Okie State to break ground on $16 million dollar indoor practice facility

You are right its named after the donor who put up a cool 20 mil back in 07...they were originally going to build a 50 million dollar facility but they had to downgrade after T-Boone's stock lost 282 million in 2008....still looks sweet though. The way it opens up is kind of cool with the doors.
 
We're waiting to see what everybody else does and then we're going to make ours better.

Yeah, just saw a post on Shaggybevo to that effect, apparently they are building the joint without AC now due to the hit Picken's hedge fund took.

I'm sure it does but I guess what I'm getting at is even with the increase materials cost and putting a parking garage in, $85 million seems really high. Even if you add in 20 million for a parking garage (I have no idea how much they would cost) and throw in another additional 5 million for materials that it would cost to build a similar facility to OSU's 16 mil...you are still at just over 40 million which is half of the 85 million that CU thinks it will cost to put one in...anyway I guess it doesn't matter because its not like we are going to be raising those kinds of funds anytime soon or even close to it.

Seriously, you can put in a nice AC big enough to do the job for like 100k...just had a claim where the compressor went out in one and it was like 13k to replace or if they bought a new unit it would be 100k....If they were that strapped for cash they should have just went for two practice fields instead of three and with the money they saved put AC in that place.
 
here is the million dollar question. Would you be willing to give up Franklin Field so the football team can put 3 practice fields there and a huge indoor practice facility on a parking garage next to it?
 
Ohio State already has 2 indoor practice areas haha, I guess now they get 3. They also have 2 full size basketball arenas - one just a little bigger and newer than the old one.

doesn't matter anymore. might as well. the AD/CU has fenced off Franklin Field and students can't use it. instead, it gets used maybe a couple times a week in warmer weather months for club sports. it's not a "public" space at all. no more hotties sunbathing or frisbee. it's fenced off. no access.

No, but there wouldn't be any reason to do that. There are plenty of places that a practice field complex could go that wouldn't necessitate the removal of Franklin Field.

Wait... what?!?! Really? When did this happen? This is an outrage! We used to go down there and play snow football. It was epic.
 
Im guessing the 85mil that they are throwing around at CU is if they were to put it down there in the flood plain and the necessary structural tweeks to allow that building to stand there. If they put it at franklin field, or added on to Dal Ward, I see no reason why it would cost anywhere near 85mil unless of course we tried to trump Oregon's facilities.

the master plan showed it right off the northeast corner of folsom adjacent to Franklin. They might as well use Franklin as the practice fields if they did that.
