Oregon Thread

I was a student then and remember it well. There were lots of stories about how great and supportive the people of Oregon were to Ed and his family. They expressed heavy gratitude. Ed has been been present for some team events since Embree came onboard and the papers follow his progress pretty well.

I was actually at that game in Eugene. We did not know what happened to Ed, did not even see them attending to him on the field. After the game, we hung around to let the traffic clear, etc. and saw a lot of the players kind of moping around. We thought, yeah we lost the game, but they look really depressed. Didn't find out what happened until reading the paper the next morning.

I know that the people at the University of Oregon, and the people of Eugene, were as sympathetic, supportive, and helpful as humanly possible. I have seen Ed at many CU events over the years, and it really is a miracle how far he "came back". I'm sure the Reinhart family has a real soft spot in their heart for UO, regardless of what happens on the field.
 
I was in high school in Lake Oswego which is a suburb of Portland and it was covered and followed extensively by the local tv stations. They even had several follow up reorts talking about how he was progressing.
 
Little known fact:

CU won the first game in Autzen Stadium history, 17-13 in 1967. It was televised by ABC, the last time a game was in shown in black and white.
 
Other good TV trivia involving Oregon ....

The 1952 Oregon-Nebraska game was the first nationally televised college football game.
The 1955 Oregon-Colorado game was the first live event ever broadcast from Eugene.
The 1979 Oregon-Colorado game was the first game ever shown (on tape delay) on a little known outlet known as ... ESPN.
 
My how things have changed.... ABC's policy on showing college football in 1971:

“No team can appear more than four times in two years, or more than three times in one year… No team can appear on national TV more than two times in one year…”
