Short weekend since we haven’t started with MAC and other mid-week games.
In honor of the passing of the Queen we have a week that is likely to result in some royal beatings.
The Friday games have Louiseville (0-1) at UCF (1-0) and Boise (0-1) looking to overcome New Mexico (1-0) who figured out how to win against a bad FCS team.
The big games on Saturday are limited as most top teams are looking to pad their records against paid victims.
Pittsburgh (17) coming off a big win in the Backyard Brawl host Tennessee (24) who is back in the top 25 after a few down years. Expect both of these teams to move a lot in the rankings after this game.
Kentucky (20) isn’t used to being in the top 25, Florida (12) is but wasn’t until their big win last weekend against Utah. The process of sorting out who is real in the SEC begins.
The other big top 25 game of the day Baylor (9) travels to BYU (25). BYU is known for strict rules about extra marital sex, Bailor is know for their athletes participating in extralegal sex.
Some other interesting matchups include Alabama (1) visiting soon to be conference mate Texas (1-0). Longhorns might start wishing they had more Kansas games in their future.
Most of the other top 25 games involve an opponent far from the top 25.
Georgia Bulldogs (2) host the Samford Bulldogs. Nicknames may be the only thing they hold in common as Samford has few players who would even be welcomed to walk on to Georgia.
Hawaii won’t find a day at the beach visiting Michigan (4) who is coming off a close 51-7 battle against the mighty CSU Rams.
PAC 12 teams as well have mostly scheduled what should be easy wins.
Games of interest have USC (10) at Stanford (1-0) for what may be their last conference visit and Washington State who wishes they were going to the B1G at Wisconsin (19,)
Normally a game between a B1G school and Sun Belt Georgia Southern would be an automatic win for the B1G school. This isn’t accounting for the Scott Frost factor. The Corn managed to overcome the University of North Dakota last week. Winning two in a row isn’t a frequent occurrence for Scott Frost teams. Will we see another mass meltdown in the trailer parks and feedlots.
Locally CSU (0-1) should be able to walk a little straighter this week playing Middle Tennessee after getting used last week by Michigan.
The Eddie Mac show starts getting even cheesier. After losing to Houston Baptist last week, a team that was winless the season before and maybe their best chance for a win this year UNC (0-1) gets to take that long bus ride to Laramie to take on Wyoming (1-1). Is it possible that Eddie Mac is a worse coach than Karl Dorrell?
Small college action heats up again after a mixed outcome last weekend.
Probably the most important game is Pueblo hosting national power Grand Valley State who beat visiting Mines last weekend.
Mines gets usually tough Angelo State at home and Western plays at Texas Permian Basin. Mesa has the week off before all schools start into their conference schedule next week.
