Last week the Buffs lost and the fuskers won. Time to get things back on track in the college football world.
We get our first chance to get right on Thursday night. (13) West Virginia rolled up the points in building a 5-0 record before falling to Iowa State last week. This week they get Baylor visiting and a chance to get well. Let’s start the week right with WVU piling a different kind of abuse on the Bears than they did their co-eds.
Friday game is in the PAC with (23) Utah visiting a bad UCLA squad. Don’t expect much help for the Buffs here.
Saturdays biggest game is probably the SEC rivalry with surprising (9) Florida and (7) Georgia playing as usual since 1933 in Jacksonville. Both teams 6-1 this could have playoff implications.
Not likely impacting the playoffs but two ranked teams has (18) Iowa at a suddenly tumbling (17) Penn State. Could this be the week for the JoPa apologist to fall out of the top 25, we can hope with a convincing Iowa win.
Our other game involving two top 25 teams has the biggest contrast in styles in the PAC12. Mike Leach takes his pass happy (14) Washington State Cougars to play the pound it out (23) Stanford team that has been having a hard time consistently generating offense.
Not much hope for upsets at the top as (1) Alabama has a bye week and (2) Clemson goes to an outmanned Florida State. We would love to see (3) Notre Dame lose but a bad Navy team isn’t going to give us that satisfaction.
We can get plenty of satisfaction though if Bethune-Cookman can pull the upset on the huskers. This is likely though the last game Nebraska will win this year and their fans will be so excited about a two game win streak that they will kiss their sisters hard enough to loosen their remaining tooth. Good thing the savior Scott Frost has returned to Lincoln so they can roll up wins against teams like the mighty Wildcats.
In local action Boise comes to the AFA to play an improving Falcons squad.
A game which is made fairly meaningless by bad records coming in is the big rivalry between CSU and Wyoming played this year in Ft. Collins. The few remaining CSU fans will be busy claiming this as their big game while spending the whole time talking about CU.
Northern Colorado coming off a big upset of Northern Arizona to get their first win of the season has a good chance to get their second on the road at Southern Utah who has also only won once this season.
Not much change in local small college football with Colorado Mines (7-0 in conference ) and CSU- Pueblo (6-1) at the top of the standings.
Mines hosts South Dakota Mines trying to stay out of a hole. Fort Lewis goes to CSU Pueblo.
