Last week the Buffs lost and the fuskers won. Time to get things back on track in the college football world.

We get our first chance to get right on Thursday night. (13) West Virginia rolled up the points in building a 5-0 record before falling to Iowa State last week. This week they get Baylor visiting and a chance to get well. Let’s start the week right with WVU piling a different kind of abuse on the Bears than they did their co-eds.

Friday game is in the PAC with (23) Utah visiting a bad UCLA squad. Don’t expect much help for the Buffs here.

Saturdays biggest game is probably the SEC rivalry with surprising (9) Florida and (7) Georgia playing as usual since 1933 in Jacksonville. Both teams 6-1 this could have playoff implications.

Not likely impacting the playoffs but two ranked teams has (18) Iowa at a suddenly tumbling (17) Penn State. Could this be the week for the JoPa apologist to fall out of the top 25, we can hope with a convincing Iowa win.

Our other game involving two top 25 teams has the biggest contrast in styles in the PAC12. Mike Leach takes his pass happy (14) Washington State Cougars to play the pound it out (23) Stanford team that has been having a hard time consistently generating offense.

Not much hope for upsets at the top as (1) Alabama has a bye week and (2) Clemson goes to an outmanned Florida State. We would love to see (3) Notre Dame lose but a bad Navy team isn’t going to give us that satisfaction.

We can get plenty of satisfaction though if Bethune-Cookman can pull the upset on the huskers. This is likely though the last game Nebraska will win this year and their fans will be so excited about a two game win streak that they will kiss their sisters hard enough to loosen their remaining tooth. Good thing the savior Scott Frost has returned to Lincoln so they can roll up wins against teams like the mighty Wildcats.

In local action Boise comes to the AFA to play an improving Falcons squad.

A game which is made fairly meaningless by bad records coming in is the big rivalry between CSU and Wyoming played this year in Ft. Collins. The few remaining CSU fans will be busy claiming this as their big game while spending the whole time talking about CU.

Northern Colorado coming off a big upset of Northern Arizona to get their first win of the season has a good chance to get their second on the road at Southern Utah who has also only won once this season.

Not much change in local small college football with Colorado Mines (7-0 in conference ) and CSU- Pueblo (6-1) at the top of the standings.

Mines hosts South Dakota Mines trying to stay out of a hole. Fort Lewis goes to CSU Pueblo.

There's a swarm of Yellow Jackets, swarming against my window pane.
How's it gonna be?

Glad we don't have a Georgia Tech in our league.

Pain to prepare for them every year. VT is a good team but the GT offense has them reeling.

Hard to come back on them as well since they are built to kill clock.

If Oregon state was smart they would have hired the navy coach and they would win 5-6 games a year which is a lot for that program.

Agree. with the right OOC schedule they could win 7-8 in a lot of years and get to a bowl game.

There are also a lot of kids on the west coast who are not going to be recruited by the top schools who would be well suited to run that offense. Offensive linemen who are a couple inches shorter than ideal, RBs who are more fullbacks and aren't in demand because few teams use a fullback much.

Also lets you control the ball enough take pressure off your defense.

The only thing surprising about Florida is how high they're ranked... That is a very average football team. The SEC is basically Bama. A huge gap. Everyone else. Hard to watch football in that conference.

Florida is a flawed team, they have some significant weaknesses. They are surprising though in that nobody other than their own superfans would have expected them at this point of the season to be ranked in the top ten and have the record they do.

Georgia has shown some flaws this year as well but "should" be a better team. This game has produced some surprising results over the years though.

And you are right that everybody in this division is playing for the right to get beat up by Bama in the conference championship game.

Take the points.

Georgia Southern was great last night. Very underrated program that used to dominate FCS before moving up.

Florida is pretty good, which means they are probably just an deserving as any number of teams for that ranking. Seriously, most of the top 25 is really hard to rank this year.

It's a fun year.

Outside of Alabama every team including Clemson and Notre Dame have had some games in which they have struggled and have shown some weaknesses that could get them beat against other quality teams.

It's going to be fun to see how these teams end the season.

If I were a bettor this weeks Florida - Georgia game is one that I would pass on. Don't have confidence in either side in this game or in how it will play out. Good game to lose money on.

Their over/under for season wins was 4.5. Easy money. They have athletes on both sides. That school is rolling.

Teams should start to separate over coming weeks. If you are a fan of expanded playoff, this is likely an elimination game.

On the radio, one point made about Alabama was, let's see how they react when somebody busts them in the mouth. Hell, is anybody gonna be close enough to put them in that position? I actually doubt it, but it can happen. Idk who put that out, our local radio guy gets a lot of his stuff from ESPN so somebody on there probably. Also, who could do that outside of Clemson, I don't know?

I do not have a good feel on who wins, but I lean Florida and the Gators +6.5 seems like a decent bet.

I really like what Boston College does on offense. Seems like it would be a great fit for CU with the type of in-state talent we have available and taking advantage of altitude. Basically, they're a multiple TE power team that plays fast tempo.

Up 7-0 early on the Canes.

On that note, why isn't OC Scot Loeffler mentioned for HC jobs? He's also the QB coach and his background includes being the guy who coached Tebow at Florida. (Also has a history with Jeff Grimes at Auburn & VA Tech, who could be his OC if someone hired Loeffler.)

What about LSU? UCLA has a shot against Utah-they're getting better week by week.

LSU could be a team that can challenge them. There aren't many that can, imho. Never know in football, things can change very quickly with injuries.

Yea UCLA definitely seems to be getting better. They played Washington tough and if they can manage to win tonight they'll amazingly only be a half game out of first after this weekend, and that's assuming USC wins. Regardless they'll be tied for first in the loss column if they win.

I don't trust Franks in this game and I also think Georgia will be ready to play after that bad loss to LSU. But Fromm definitely needs to be better particularly on 3rd down.

hard to trust people that are missing syllables in their names, nik.
