MacIntyre said sophomore "Kenneth Olugbode is really freaking good" when talking about the linebackers after today's scrimmage. #CUBuffs
When HCMM is that emphatic about a player you can book it the dude is a baller. He flashed last year. Nice to have 2 seriously athletic LBs roaming the middle of our D for the next 3 years!

Not Norgard? Ok, sorry, he always looked a lot to me like his old man who was one hell of an interior OL. I think he might surprise some as DT.

If Norgard had his dad's natural size he could be a contributor. Problem is that he has D1 effort, desire, and smarts in a D2 body.

Erik was 6'1" ( and that was generous) and 290. Clay is listed anywhere from 6'0" to 6'2" and 240 to 245. If he was trying to keep weight off to maintain the hope of being an LB, it stands to reason he could pack on 20 lbs. or so, maybe more. I dunno, it could happen.

Could but I wonder if he is to far into his career to be able to put on the 40lbs + of quality weight he would need to effectively compete on the LOS in the middle.

Yeah, I don't know if he can or not, but I would like to see him succeed...it would be a pleasant surprise.

Olugdobe is looking like he'll be a good one. We already know what kind of player Gillam is. The big question for me this year is Greer. He's been the best athlete of our LBs for 2 years but had injuries his first year and never put it together last season. If he can put it together, this defense should be flying around on Saturdays.

Backing them up, I also think the slimmed down Brady Daigh is going to play a lot of quality snaps for us.

Beyond that, Watanabe doesn't look like a freshman who will be kept off the field this year. I'm excited to see him in the Fall.

Can we give Olugbode the KO nickname now or do we have to wait until he actually knocks someone out?

That's his initials and he plays linebacker. KO it is. I'll start using it.

From CUBuffs.com:

Season 1985-86
Norgard, Erik ILB 6-0 195 So

Season 1986-87
Norgard, Erik C 6-0 240 So (redshirt)

Season 1987-88
Norgard, Erik C 6-1 270 Jr

Seems possible, considering the gene pool :)

If he did this I would be very happy to see it. We can always use a kid with his effort level and attitude on the DL.

Just made the comment because it is a stretch for most kids, especially once they are out of their teens.

Could be the greatest LB in CU football
Are you being sarcastic? I assume so b/c you love slamming my comments.

You are just being a jack*ss for the fun of it, b/c I never said he was going to be the best LB in history.

HCMM has been dead on so far when he says someone is impressing. His comment about KO was made w/o a direct question about him. If you want to claim that HCMM's word on KO is irrelevant and not indicative that KO will be a stellar LB for us than you may be the only ABer who would come to that conclusion based on HCMM's track record on predicting breakout performances.

Watched the post-practice interview with HCMM on Rivals just now. He was talking about how smart KO is and that he's starting to really play well. He also mentioned Tupou, Nembot Bobo and Sefo as guys who are showing well.

Good news, those are all need positions.
