Larry Scott talking moving the P12 tournament to Vegas

"An empty stadium looks awful on TV," he says. He has faced that problem with the conference's postseason basketball tournament, which has been played at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to less than packed houses; the conference is strongly considering moving the tournament to the MGM Grand (MGM) in Las Vegas. "People will travel to Las Vegas," Scott says.

sounds great to me. I understand the hesitancy to football being played there because you need so many people to make the stadium look decently filled for two teams. But a 12 team tournament in a smaller arena, sounds awesome. Plus the bands would have a blast in vegas :)

I was actually thinking about starting a thread on this topic this morning. JG, I hope it's ok if I alter your thread to add a poll question.

I am surprised how many people like the rotating cities idea, it would be cool to host it, but how many people are going to book a trip to Seattle, Eugene, Corvallis or even Boulder if there is a chance their team doesn't make it past the first round? In going to Vegas even if your team loses the first game you are still in Vegas for the next couple of days not Corvallis.

I believe for the case of rotating cities it not the actual campus site but a major city in the state, i.e Denver, Portland, Seattle etc. But I still vote for Vegas!

That's how I interpreted it as well. I'd be fine with it if it rotated between Denver, Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, LA, SF, etc.. That could lead to some great trips.

 HOwever, I look forward to ruggedvision, brought to you by snow industries and starring sweaty teets, from Vegas next year :smile2:

Reward the regions with teams in the conference. Make it like the football CG where this year's tourney winner hosts next year.

From the player perspective, it seems like it would be cool to say that you played in four NBA arenas in college. Personally, those cities appeal more to me than Vegas does. But if Larry Scott thinks that Vegas is best for business, I'll trust the guy until he gives me reason not to. Regardless, it beats Kansas City.

who the **** would fly to vegas to watch a Pac 12 tourney?

Casinos and strip clubs >>>> college basketball

We might lose some of the basketball band members, alums and current, in the process, but I'd be all for it.
