Pac-12 Bowl Games

Oregon vs Wisconsin - Oregon opens up as 4.5 favorites.
Stanford vs Oklahoma State
Arizona State vs Boise State
Cal vs Texas
Washington vs Baylor
Utah vs Georgia Tech
UCLA vs Illinois

So which of these matchups do you guys think are wins or loses?

Wins - Oregon, Utah and Cal
Losses - Stanford, ASU, UW, UCLA

With the exception of the Boise game, I think all of those games could break in either direction. Maybe UW is a sizeable dog. LOL. I made a funny...Even UCLA has a decent chance. Two teams that fired their HC, face off. When rudderless ships collide, anything can happen!

I'm expecting some serious "Good Luck" wishing from you guys for my squad. The hate is strong in this one. And going to the dark side (Use, your hate, Jeff!) this time is fully excusable. Actually I think Texass' strengths and weakness make for a nearly ideal opponent for Cal. Texass grind/wear them down running game runs straight into our strength which is depth in the front 7. And as long as we stay out of a shoot out, we can mask a lot of our offensive short comings.

Since I do not share the notion of cheering for every conference team I hope Oklahoma State curb stomps Stanford if only to make the BCS look stupid. I hope my Ducks win and I fell this Wisconsin team is more beatable then LSU or Auburn were, but who knows if the Ducks will show up. ASU is going to get bent over killed by Boise because they are pissed. I would love to see Cal beat Texas since I ****ing hate Texas so don't let me down! Washington is going to be destroyed by Baylor since Baylors strengths play right into everyone of UW's weaknesses. I think Utah will win, but they will be an underdog and I really don't see UCLA pulling that out.

Some good matchups. I'd love to see Cal beat the piss out of UT, but I really don't think that will happen.

UCLA-Illinois in the "Searching for Head Coach Bowl" is downright pathetic. Illinois has lost 6 in a row...

Utah-Georgia Tech will be somewhat interesting. Not a big "root for the conference" guy, but I want Utah to make our win in SLC look even nicer! GT has struggled in bowl games since teams have time to prepare.

I think Boise beats the snot out of an ASU team that has quit

really excited for that Oregon v Wiscy matchup. Wonder if Oregon can finally come out of a long layoff sharp or if they will, once again, fumble around like a teenager looking for a bra snap.

Think Oregon will win but Id hardly call it a lock. Baylor is gonna throttle Udub, by quite a bit imho. I still dont see how UCLA is in a bowl, thats pitiful. Maybe they should move it up to 7 wins to qualify for a bowl, wouldnt hurt my feelings.

UCLA already didn't qualify for a bowl. They are in on an NCAA waiver...

Oregon vs Wisconsin Oregon destroys them...Sconnie is too slow
Stanford vs Oklahoma State Toss up...lots of scoring though
Arizona State vs Boise State Boise
Cal vs Texas Cal...our hatred will carry us
Washington vs Baylor Toss up but leaning toward the green bears
Utah vs Georgia Tech Georgia Tech
UCLA vs Illinois Who cares?

So which of these matchups do you guys think are wins or loses?

To be fair, I am not up to date on the injury situation with any of these teams except Cal

Yeah I know why they are in. Im just saying 7 should be the number, no pussy waivers or anything like that. Either win 7 or enjoy your holidays at home. The bowl season is watered down enough as is.

I disagree. Wisconsin is one of the few teams that can keep up with Oregon offensively. Should be a good game.

I really do think Wisconsin is a clone of Stanford. Neither team has elite WR's and relies heavily on their TE's in the passing game. Both have very good QB's who do not turn over the ball in crucial situations (well okay so Luck did against Oregon). Both defenses are rather slow and struggle to tackle in space so this game could turn out like the Oregon/Stanford game or it could be more competitive like the game was supposed to be. The Ducks need this break though because as of now the Ducks were running out of players against UCLA. I just hope Chip's team doesn't come out sleepwalking like they have the last two times with long layoffs.

UCLA vs Illinois is a new low. A sub. 500 team versus a team that has lost 6 in a row. Would love to see 10 bowls cut out of the picture.

Regarding the Rose Bowl, I fail to see where Oregon beats Wisconsin with ease. Think it'll be a good game that could go either way. Won't be cheering for the Pac-12 in that one

I'd agree for the most part, although I think top to bottom Wisconsin has more talent than Stanford. Wisconsin is one of those teams that can lull you to sleep and then explode for 28 points before you can blink.

Big problem with this statement-CU could easily end next year with 6 wins-and going to a bowl next year would be awesome for this program. I'm kind of glad we are not this year because the 2012 recruiting class is one of the most important classes in a decade and our coaching staff is able to focus 100% on that. But next year it is time to start showing traction and getting to a bowl helps us tell the story that we have the right staff and environment to compete for Pac 12 championships.

wisconsin will impose their will in the trenches and can run the ball well enough to keep the oregon offense off the field. sconny wins by 10.

I think it's one thing for a few 6 win teams on the upswing, perhaps with some nice upsets along the way, to get invitations. These days, however, EVERY 6 win team from a power conference - and nearly every bowl-eligible team in all of FBS - are bowling. Multiple teams with seasons so ****** that they decided to fire their head coaches are getting rewarded for "successful" seasons, including one (Illinois) that has lost 6 straight games. That's ridonkulous.

Wisconsin secondary struggles with speed. That will be a high scoring game.

Yes a bowl game would be great for us, I get that. I just think a winning record should be required. I could settle for .500 but would rather it be at least 7 wins. The bowl season has become a joke imho. It used to be much better than it is now, Jan. 1 used to be special. Even games leading up to the Jan. 1 games werent as watered down as the crap now.

The more I look at these matchups, the more I think the Pac-12 is going to struggle in these bowl games. Outside of UCLA over Illinois, its hard to find a game where the Pac-12 team has a clear-cut advantage. It would be extremely surprising for the Pac to go 4-3, and I'm not even sure they'll manage 3-4.

Oregon/Wisconsin: Tossup. Don't confuse Wisconsin with Stanford
Stanford/Okla State: Okie State
ASU/Boise St: Boise State, probably won't even be close
Cal/Texas: tossup, but I'll say Cal
Washington/Baylor: Baylor
Utah/Georgia Tech: Georgia Tech
UCLA/Illinois: UCLA. However, if UCLA beats Illinois, but no one was there to see it...did it actually happen?

Don't underestimate how much Cal hates Texas. They'll be motivated to practice and prepare hard for this one.
