Pac-12 coaches dish on teams (anonymously of course)

Two good comments on us.

One about how the heck we lost to ASU and Utah when a bowl bid was on the line (and calling MikeMac out for that).

The other is about how infuriating Montez can be. Great throw one play and then poor decision on the next. And then a different coach said he would love to have him because you can coach that out. - Go Roper!

I get the ASU comment but I don't understand Utah. They were fighting for a bowl game too, it was at their stadium and they had a couple close calls against the top two teams in the league so it's not like they weren't capable of playing well. Last season's bowl game came down to UCLA, ASU and Arizona, not Utah.

Losing to Utah on the road is not bad. Not bothering to show up in a game where you would think both teams want the win pretty badly is the bad look.

ASU is the game that killed everything.

I wonder how much the Tumpkin thing messed w MMac...sap his drive a bit? Idk but he seemed a little diff last year. Hopefully he rebounds.

No doubt, I just didn't agree with him lumping the two together. And as Mac sort of said yesterday the UCLA and Arizona losses sort of snowballed and the cherry on top was that 4th quarter collapse in Tempe.

Also thought it was interesting how everyone seems to agree Wazzu is headed for a big dip from the last couple seasons. That team could really struggle in 2018.

Hindsight indicates that the 2017 Buffs lacked sufficient team chemistry and cohesion, players and coaches alike. When adversity is faced, teams can go in two directions. They can circle the wagons, band together and fight like the 2016 team or they can look for scapegoats and mail it in. In addition to taking a step back in terms of talent in 2017, they collectively crumbled when it mattered most.

Please, please, please let the USC QB controversy contribute to a long-awaited CU victory over the Trojans.

Also glad to read Chip Kelly needs to bring new innovations because the system he ran at Oregon as been done figured out. Anything new is going to have kinks. That makes UCLA kinky.

CU defense -vs- Khalil Tate is going to shape my views about this coaching staff. Bottle him up and I’m on board. (Along with bowl eligibility)

They had their fate on the line for 60 minutes. Laid an egg. Losing other games was key, every game counts. But to play so uninspired in a game for a bowl trip was, indeed, a red flag.

You guys think Grinch has buyer's remorse about his move to Ohio State this week?
I think he expected Schiano to leave for a HC job and for him to get the DC job. There's no reason Grinch should have been taking a demotion at this stage of his career, so the whole thing is weird to me. First, it makes me think that things behind the curtain are not good at Wazzu. But beyond that, this OSU gig couldn't have ever been more than a 1-year stepping stone for him anyway with that title.

Pretty sure he was promised the full-time DC gig in 2019. Plus he is a Ohio native, so I believe he was looking to jump from Wazzu for any decent to good gig.

We lose to Utah because they are better than us on the LOS. They are better than us on the LOS because they make recruiting linemen a priority.

Yeah no ****, those two games are still completely different so it wasn't a very intelligent comment.

If Meyer gets canned, he's my first call if I'm a coach in need of a DC.

Definitely. Utah was winnable, but no slam dunk. Not a bad loss.
