Pac-12 Networks "12 Greatest"

Pac-12 Network is running a series this weekend ranking the best 12 players at each Pac-12 school- airs this Saturday, all 12 episodes consecutively (one for each school), I think.

The teaser video released shows Michael Westbrook, which means that all of Colorado's history is included (good news, because the best 12 players in CU's Pac-12 history might be pretty sad). They released the full episode for USC, which I will not link, but you can probably guess who makes that list if you've been conscious and paid attention to college football and care about history at all... (except Ron Yary, who I guess I'm too young to remember).

Anyone want to take a shot at their own top 12 for CU? I can't come up with one reasonably worthy of posting... I'm too young to remember anyone before about 1990, and many of those guys from the 90's I've learned about rather than remember. I do know Byron White probably cracks the top 5 or 3, even though many posters here might not include him, given that it was so long ago.

I'm not much of a thread creator, but I thought it was a fun thought experiment as we get increasingly hyped for the season to start.

Salaam obviously goes on the list.
Darian Hagan, Kordell Stewart, Deion Figures, and CJ are probably locks as well.

Please tell me they included OJ.

I'd go with the national award winners (minus specialist) + hall of fame members + Sal.

1. Salaam (Heisman, etc.)
2. Alfred (Butkus + HoF)
3. Russell (Butkus)
4. Figures (Thorpe)
5. Hudson (Thorpe)
6. Graham (Mackey)
7. Whizzer (HoF)
8. Romig (HoF)
9. B. Anderson (HoF)
10. D. Anderson (HoF)
11. Wooten (HoF)
12. Sal (impact & legacy)

They did include OJ (at 2, Marcus Allen #1) as well as Reggie Bush (#4). They didn't really touch on the sanctions and other later transgressions, which I think is fair- those games happened, and those two guys were super good at football.

Warren Moon (an interviewee) says of OJ something along the lines of "it's super sad what happened in his life later, but he was among the greatest running backs ever".

Sort of interesting that 2 of their top 4 players of all time had some unusual history. Glass houses and all that (Rae Carruth), but 2 of the top 4? Not sure if that says something or not.

I figure:

1) Whizzer
2) Salaam
3) Alfred
4) Romig
5) Cliff Branch
6) B Anderson
7) Bienemy
8) Wooten
9) Orvis
10) Westbrook
11) Garten
12) And not sure...D Anderson, Brock brothers, Pritch, Hagan, Charles Johnson (WR), Bo Matthews, etc??

We've had 3 players finish in the top 3 of heisman voting.

It sort of says something about the history of our program that one of them, one who would probably be top 5 and definitely top 12 at a lot of other schools, isn't even mentioned until the 16th post.

That being said, I don't think Chris Brown actually is in our top 12 all time.

Can we get a shout out for Cody Hawkins? Didn't he set all the CU passing records?

Other than him, you guys have gotten all the guys I can think of.
