Ok, so I finally got to watch the ESPN documentary on the Auburn/Bama rivalry last weekend and the thing that surprised me was the way they portrayed Paul Finebaum. Was their portrayal accurate? Does anyone listen to him on here? Is he truly as powerful as they say?

Don't know how powerful his is but his radio show which I get on Sirius is all SEC all the time. He is a huge SEC honk and thinks nobody is playing good football outside the $EC. So I hate him.

His show is like central command for all the SEC zealots.Actually entertaining sometimes how irrational those freaks are.Like SCB said above, his listeners follow his lead in believing college football talk begins and ends in the SEC,worse than Clay Travis and his cronies.

I've seen him on Outside the Lines a couple of times and have read his column on si.com. He seems okay. Never heard the radio show

Finebaum's radio show is basically Jerry Springer for the SEC. He's powerful in that he can really stir the pot, and the majority of his show is caller based so he gets opposing fan bases calling in to talk **** to each other. It's entertaining at first, but gets old after a while. He does get some good guests however. I think SEC fans see him as the only big media/national guy that really gives the SEC the credit it deserves(way too much)--and he kind of feeds into the idea that SEC pride is really about southern pride. It's not uncommon for debates between callers to turn into north vs. south arguments. They really hate when Ohio State fans call in to start thumping their chest.

His columns--I think he writes for SI now--carry a little bit more weight as far as having some real insight. His radio show is more of a circus.

to be fair very few sportstalk shows aren't a circus.

+1. I can't tolerate much of that show, the Jerry Springer tag seems pretty accurate. Finebaum seems like an intelligent guy, but the amount of on air time he gives to mouth-breathing callers is horrific. I've listened to a lot of Denver radio and even when the Broncos are a hot topic, I've rarely heard as much time given to callers. I suppose it sells, so Finnebaum won't break the model.

I wasn't fortunate enough to hear it live, but apparently a CU fan called into the Finebaum show Friday to tell everybody that Colorado was gonna win the National Championship in 3 years or so, and then called everyone in the South inbreds, more or less.

I was only in my car for the reaction calls from SEC fans, so I can't say what the proud CU fan said word for word, but he/she obviously trolled them very well.

I tried to find the audio from the show, but Finebaum's podcast system is broken. But whoever had the balls to call in and say this should be commended.

Keep it classy Colorado.

I turned over his show the other day and listened to a few callers defend the actions of the patriotic alabama fan that shared his ballsack with a passed out LSU fan. I didn't listen for long, obviously an SEC focused program. Before I turned it off, a listener from Michigan called to ask Paul about why so many alabama fans would perpetuate the redneck stereotype by defending the nutsacker. Paul didn't really have an answer for him, but indicated that he agreed with his listening masses that the ballsacker seemed to be getting the shaft.

Paul's program is sometimes entertaining, but usually for the callers, not the football talk. I honestly don't understand how he keeps the national audience. How many times through the year does one really want to hear the bama sucks - auburn sucks banter?

I want to give that Colorado fan a beer lol!
