Phillip Lindsay stand out on day one of Broncos camp

Not worried about how Taz looks in pads. Good luck buffalo!
Mile High Report is a joke. One of the guys keeps excusing the praise being thrown his way by saying it’s just hometown hype. Now that Marshall and others have come out and mentioned him specifically, they’re finding other reasons to discount him, mainly the “we’ll see how he looks in pads” argument.

The people there are real D-bags and the editor is a little wiener. A few years ago he kept writing stories about how much he hated trevor siemian and would write stories mid-game to point out every mistake he made. I eventually called him out on it and instead of responding to it he just banned me from the website.

On topic- my fiancée asked about Lindsay and that was the easiest way to check even though I hate that place.

Just have her hear it from Marshall

He will show better in pads. Especially when he opens eyes with his willingness to block in the backfield/pick up blitz’s

i have some MHR writers blocked on twitter just because all the people retweeting them annoyed the **** out of me.

This guy is the guy that sucks

I think they all suck personally. The writers and people of MHR I’m fairly certain think they’re NFL analysts. But I can’t do the whole Twitter thing, never understood it. It’s like a really disorganized Facebook.

Lindsay breaks the mold, as NFL folks will soon learn. Yeah, he's short and he's fast. But he looks and plays so much better in pads than in shorts. One of the best blitz pickup guys I've ever seen at the college level. Also, always angled to fall forward when tackled.
It’s that blitz pickup void I’m most worried about going into the Buffs 2018 season.

Montez has got to be much better with his reads and release to offset this loss. It's one of the biggest keys to the season, imo.
Bingo. All the weapons on offense become useless if Montez panics.

The fact that he was the best short yardage back on the team basically his entire time at CU backs that up as well.

One of the things that gets overlooked about Phil is his football intelligence. At CU he didn't blow assignments, coaches could give him an adjustment and know that he would make the adjustment. He was a fast learner and understood the concepts, not just his job. At the RB position this trait isn't highly common, lots of RBs have made it this far on talent.

NFL coaches though love that trait, they want a guy on the field who isn't going to be the reason a play fails.

What's the scouting report say about McMillian's ability in pass pro?
Unclear other than to note as VTech changed coaches, they also changed philosophies from run-oriented attack to a more pass-oriented attack. And as that change occurred, McMillian’s participation dropped.

Maybe Hokie has insight.

McMillian has been saying the right things about taking pride in his pass pro. We also heard some good things about Fontenot with improvement in that area in the spring. And Bisharat is good in this area.

The main point, though, is that I'm expecting good/reliable for a RB. That's a far cry from the elite that Taz gave us in this area. And even with Taz being so good and staying in to help (cutting his receptions by a lot as a senior), CU still gave up a ton of sacks. Fixing this is on the OL and Montez, not the RBs. RBs can't make up for OL and QB deficiencies in regard to pressure. Trying to mitigate this by keeping your RB in all the time limits the offense too much. I want McMillian and Fontenot catching passes as the safety route against blitzes, not staying in the backfield to be blockers.

If he's better at that, it's the difference between him having a decent year to a great year imho. Going through progressions is one thing but being able to see looks at the line pre snap is another. I'd hope he's improved in both of those areas.

Exactly. Wanting your RB's to be consistent in pass blocking is not a good use of their talent. If you do, then your pass blocking up front is broken. RB should be your last defense and should never be relied on consistently. Lindsay was extremely elite in this area, so getting better up-front is really the only way to go.

Let's hope that Montez having a dedicated QB coach and an offense (that hopefully-and this is an observation, not praise) that will require him to make quicker decisions will help here. Not surprised by Phillip Lindsay turning heads at Dove Valley at all, and nobody on this board should be.

The better Montez is the better our OL will look. I’m not surprised by Lindsay either but I’m very excited for him. He’s one of my favorite Buffs so seeing him impress and prove more doubters wrong is so ****ing awesome.

If anybody has twitter and wants to join me, I'm going to start trolling Skotty (no idea why the k instead of the c) Payne and the rest of the MHR clowns.
