Who has gotten better? Who has gotten worse? Who has stayed the same? During this season, that is.

What concerns me is that, prior to the season, many of us believed that this really young team might struggle.early but would really improve.during the year. To me, that has not been the case.

Better: Dinwiddie, Talton, X Johnson, Adams
Same: Roberson, Scott, Tunks
Worse: Booker, Chen, Stalzer

Could make an argument Scott has gotten better or even gotten worse. But I think it's had more to do with matchups, and hitting the freshmen wall a bit.

id say scott is better but chen has regressed along with ski and simba

I'd take early-season Jelly over today's Jelly. A lot of it is expected of a freshman big man averaging 28 minutes per game; he's going to wear down. It looks like its more than that to me though. I think consistently playing against more athletic bigs has gotten in his head a little bit. He seems more rushed and isn't finishing as well. I think that will improve again next year, but for this season, I think he's taken a step back.

As for Chen, he pretty much is what he is: a hustle player who's limited offensively. I'm not sure I've seen that change much this year. SHT, yeah, he's probably taken a step back.

We're basically meeting the expectations we all had in conference play. We're just doing it on d and playing ugly offense, which doesn't look impressive. And really, we were going to be somewhat limited offensively all along this year, so Ski having a prolonged slump has been hard to overcome. The program just isn't at a point where we have the scoring depth to compensate for something like that. We're still a tourney team and with Tad's recruiting, along with the redshirts being eligible next year, we're moving in the right direction.

Something else to consider, especially with the frosh; practices began earlier this year with the new rules, and the team did the preseason Euro tour. Some of youngsters may be plum tuckered out.

I think the short break for jelly might do him some good. He'll be a little more rested for the final 2 home games and for the conference tourney.

Freshmen often hit a wall this time of the year, you are absolutely correct. Believe me, we are hardly the only team with that concern. It has happened to many, many freshmen across the nation (it so often does). Hopefully you are right that Scott's break might have led to him recharging and being ready to go down the stretch. The Cal game simply wasn't a fair sample, it was his first game back, and being rusty is completely the norm in that situation (what Ryan Kelly did in his return is unheard of).
