Playoff expansion to 12 teams approved

i dont see this solving anything, but here you go

at least we will have a lot more teams that they have to talk about instead of the top 8 or so. It's a step towards making the incessant playoff talk relevant to more teams. It's going to be annoying when half the field is SEC and B1G teams though.

Rumor was that the Pac 12 or Pac 12 Schools (USC) threw the biggest stink about playoff expansion. Their president voted against expansion.

This doesn't seem popular with college football fans but this was inevitable.

If Pac12 remains an eligible conference, better to add some west coast schools that crawl back to the little leftover 12.

You're not wrong, at least according to what it would have been last year. They put up a graphic of what the playoff would have looked like last year and this was the field:

SEC - 3 (Bama, UGA, Ole Miss)
B1G - 3 (Mich, tOSU, MSU)
Big 12 - 2 (Baylor, OSU)
ACC - 1 (Pitt)
Pac12 - 1 (Utah)
Independendent - 1 (ND)
AAC - 1 (Cincy)

One thing about this field is that Georgia wouldn't have gotten a bye since they weren't a conference champ and would've been the 5-seed. I don't like this aspect of the seeding but overall it's the best plan that gives a balance between conference champs getting in as well as the best teams who didn't win their respective conferences

Huh? The rumor was that GK and the Pac 12 wanted expansion, but Warren and the B1G told them and the ACC no on the terms that Sankey was presenting (eve though the B1G had no reason to say no). GK and ACC backed the B1G and that’s why this didn’t happen sooner, and now obviously the B1G is all for it

I heard this on the Full Ride show. I can't pinpoint exactly who said it, but USC president was very adamant about not expanding.
