So, how do we see this shaking out?

The remaining front runners

12-0 Clemson, ACC Championship v UNC
11-1 Alabama, SEC Championship v Florida
10-1 Oklahoma, "Big 12 Championship" v Oklahoma State
11-1 Michigan State, B1G Championship v Iowa
12-0 Iowa, B1G Championship v Iowa
10-1 Notre Dame v Stanford

Clemson, Iowa and Alabama clearly control their own destiny. If they win out there´s no way they get left out. I think a 11-1 OU holds off a 11-1 Notre Dame, I think a 12-1 B1G champ Michigan State may lose out to Notre Dame not because they deserve it (MSU will have 4 top 18 wins if they win the B1G), but Notre Dame has the bigger name recognition. Same possibly goes for Oklahoma State. So far so good, but what needs to happen for a 11-2 P12 Champ Stanford to make it? And what happens if Florida or UNC pull the upset? I think it´s safe to assume that **** Baylor, Michigan and Ohio State are out of playoff contention.
 
I think Stanford is going to find its way in.

Iowa - Oklahoma - Clemson - Stanford

My guess is that FSU beats UF tonight, but that UF comes back and beats Alabama next week. Saban ran Henry into the ground tonight and Florida's defense is no joke.
 
Iowa is undeserving. They need to lose so schools don't create pansy schedules
 
Iowa wins their championship game they are in. They don't leave out the undefeated champ of the B1G in favor of multiple one loss teams.
Bama a lock if the win the SEC championship game. SEC has to much influence.
Clemson has been #1 and undefeated most of the season and beat ND head to head. They lock up a spot with a coference championship
Oklahoma isn't going to get passed. The Texas loss is ugly and most of the year their schedule was crap but they finished with a bunch of teams that had been top 10 much of the year.

After all the stink last year with the B12 having schools #5 and 6 but not getting in the committee isn't going to risk that firestorm again this year.
 
Does the Pac 12 champion Stanford jump Ohio State if Bama or Clemson are upset despite the two losses? That's the biggest remaining question, I guess.

You know how many ranked teams Ohio State has beaten this year? One. This week. 2nd best win? Either 6-6 VA Tech or 7-5 Penn State. No way in hell.

Not quite sure what you're saying here ... can you clarify? "No way in hell" for what?

Also, don't count North Carolina out.

If they win the ACC championship, that's 6 straight wins over bowl teams capped off by knocking off #1. I don't think they're one of the four best teams and I think the committee will see it like I do, but there would be enough there for a very reasonable case.
 
All this shows is that the playoffs should be larger. All conf champions plus some at large.

Nope, not going there. The OOC schedule was crap and they lost to South Carolina.

Seriously? If they beat the #1 ranked team in the ACC CCG, they don't belong because they lost to what turned out to be a bad team in the first game of the season? What about tOSU losing to VaTech last year?

Their non-conference schedule was two FCS teams, Illinois, and South Carolina (which turned out to be a horrible loss). Damn right, I would leave them out. Their resume sucks.

Wouldn't be so sure. I think Iowa has been underrated all year ... including by me until the last two weeks or so.

I'd be surprised, I just think they've been living on the edge for too long. In most cases, in championship games those teams are exposed.
 
Sparty is a solid, talented, well coached team.

Iowa is I think better than people give them credit for and they know how to win.

Favor Sparty but give the Hawkeyes a good chance to win this thing.

Iowa had the most favorable Big schedule possible - no Ohio State, no Michigan State, no Michigan. Very good win over NW, but I think reality hits them against Sparty.

Ya never know ... Sparty is good, but the the grind of getting through the East of the B1G may have taken its toll, both physically and mentally. Meanwhile Iowa will be relatively rested and healthy, and confident as well. As I said ... must see TV.
 
I just keep seeing Big Game Bob on the sidelines of the Cotton Bowl and the Sooners getting their collective asses handed to them by the lousy UT Longhorns and asking "How in the hell do they move up from 7 to 3 with that pig of a loss?"
