Blow to the MWC and BYU (and the MAC).

Tie-in was the MWC #2 vs BYU (if eligible). If BYU ineligible, selected opponent from MAC.

That's too bad. If you're going to get rid of bowls, ax the ones in places like Boise and Shreveport, not San Diego. Poor San Diego. Soon they won't have any football left!

Of the minor bowls that one wasn't a bad one, good place for the kids to have a reward and a nice place for the fans.

If it doesn't make sense financially to keep this one alive you know that a bunch of the other ones are worse.

Let's hope they are smart enough not to let another bowl come on board to replace it. Considering that the last two years we have had 5 win teams in bowl games they just might say no.

Chances are, the fact that the Holiday Bowl is in San Diego probably is why this bowl didn't last.

Same management group and they lost money on Poinsettia, so yeah. Also, I think the uncertainty on the stadium with the Chargers leaving town is probably playing into this.

thread jack. This truly suks for San Diego. There is no reason why they shouldn't have a bad ass stadium and host all kinds of events.
population check
weather check
easy in and out check
They should build a world class stadium / venue and They will come.

I will miss the pageantry of the bowl that served as the capper to the Boca Raton Bowl and the appetizer for the Idaho Famous Potato Bowl. Things just won't be the same.

I wish to register a complaint about your new avatar....

That was actually a pretty good game.
I didn't see it, but the score would agree with you.

If I am going to spend money for a vacation destination wrapped around a football game, the 2nd/3rd team in C-USA vs the 6th place MAC team wouldn't be it.

You didn't see it and neither did a lot of others.

I did watch part of it on TV and while I don't know what the official attendance was from the looks in the stands it wouldn't match a good HS game in Texas. Small stadium with a lot of empty seats. Hard to believe that the TV ratings were that good either.

Let's not kid ourselves-this game is going to be replaced by 12 more silly bowl games that nobody will watch. This hurts the MWC more than anybody-third tier games will jump on BYU as a partner.

If the population that lived there supported the local teams, it wouldn't be an issue. Worst sports city in the country, along with miami.
