Posting GPA's on practice jerseys @ CSU

Watched a TV report by Vic Lombardi on Ch 4 last night that discussed how the FB coach at CSU was having the GPA put on the practice jerseys of the players. Is this degrading, a good idea, or motivational? I saw one guy that had a .08 I thought you needed at least a 2.0 to be on the team? Maybe not at CsUwe? :wow:

I checked out the .08 thing, and came up with two possibilities:

1. It was a warning regarding the DUI BAC limit.

2. He's a Fibers graduate student. That program is so demanding that a .08 is generally accepted as a 3.6 equivelant.

Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

I am really starting to feel sorry for D1 athletes. This is wrong on so many levels. Maybe paying these guys isn't a bad idea, as they are treated as professionals more and more.

Why is this wrong? If you don't like your GPA then change it. It is not like they are putting privilege size on the jerseys.

I'd be pissed if I was a physics major with a 2.9 standing next to a communications major with a 4.0

Why don't they post regular students names when grades are posted? Why are they hidden behind student numbers?

Awkward. It might sound like a good idea until the whole world knows that their best players are in the lower 2.0 range while majoring in Merchandise and Design. But, all is not lost, they can take P.E. credits that count towards graduation/GPA to help them out

because of the pussies that don't study. Can't hurt the stupid kids feelings.

Plus, sadly, the football players are the smartest people at CSU. Can you imagine?

For the record, FlaBuff and Wyo seem smarter than I.

Based on what I've seen on Allbuffs, I'd place you well behind FlaBuff and Wyo in intellect, and just ahead of Jim Hansen.

I get where you are going...everybody these days gets a juicebox and a blue ribbon. I simply disagree and think that the players deserve some privacy. Soon the players can just take classes and practice in the Ludus.

Certainly seems like a pretty blatent violation of FERPA. Call the ambulance chasers, we got a class action on our hands, fellas!
I suddenly have a desire to post in this thread. Also, I know a guy who built his career on class action. You know him wsp!

I can tell you for a fact that Flabuff is smarter than you.

It's only a violation if the information is made public. As nobody pays attention to CSU, no violation.

As long as I'm ahead of Jim Hansen, it doesn't matter. However, how do you know for sure? Answer cannot be "I've met you."

"I've met you and you said something" should, however, suffice.

Rhodes Scholars tend to live in something other than reality, and you apparently humped Fluke's leg.

You can bet this idea didn't come with him from Alabama; everyone would look like Jim Otto.

I dunno...

A few years ago some Tuscaloosa (sp?) columnist crowed about the the high 'Bama APR, and then (I'm not kidding) used it as evidence of superior Alabama academics.

That was a confused columnist.
