Had to leave just a tad early so someone cal fill in on anything I missed

QB: Scherer had the QB's throwing from the left hash 5 yrd line into a trash can in the corner of the endzone. Each one got 3 chances. Hansen probably got the closest then Schrock. No QB really got within a couple feet. The guy that got the closest was.... Rip Scherer on his one throw. Schrock played a lot with the 2nd team and he does remarkably well considering. He has the best throwing motion probably behind Hansen, maybe even ahead. Burnette kinda slings it from his ear. Hirschman was still held out
RB: I've been trying to think of who D.D. reminds me of and I figured it out. Not necessarily physically, but he runs exactly like Hugh Charles. Speedy has that burst. Lockridge was still held out.
WR: McCulloch seems to have dropped off a tad but is still running with the two's. He dropped a ball right on his hands in the scrimmage. The WR's were really impressive during drills thrown to the corner of the endzone. Darden appeared to have hands and hops in this drill. Spruce put together another impressive practice. He is probably the thickest and most built WR we have
TE: I think Bahr will get a lot of PT as a blocking TE. Still a focus of the Offense
OL: Hard to see here as they weren't in full pads. Mustoe needs a lot of weight but he has a nice frame.
DL: Bonsu has these skinny little legs and a large upper body. Pericak and Obi are HUGE. Kasa was still playing some DT. Chidera "practiced" a little today but didn't do any drills. He has doing some punting drills as a runner
LB: Major, RIppy, and Webb. Webb is a playmaker.
CB: Henderson probably got the most PT with the 1st team. He looks really good on bump and run coverage. He made a nice pass break up while covering Clemons. Vigo was the other CB and he split it with Hawkins and Olatoye. Orms was walking around a lot today and had a knee brace on for the first time
S: Rock solid here. Polk is positioning the DL and the LB's
K: The kicker's kicked some more today. Castor has a real wobbly ball. Oliver seems pretty accurate from under 40. They each alternated on Kick offs and Oliver actually got more depth on the ball.
P: Looks like Brundage was the odd man out. He didn't punt at all today from what I saw. Grossnickle and Darragh both punted really well today. Each downed the ball inside the 5. They were looking good today and I know some of the other fans were impressed
PR: All three guys (Richardson, Speedy, Goodson) look impressive here. Speedy muffed a punt but him and Richardson looked really explosive.

Overall, ST's was definitely the focus of practice today. Over half of the time was dedicated to Punt and Kick Coverage. Brookhart will really get on guys if they do not perform. Lots of ST specific drills like fighting through a block on kick coverage. If we have any hope for a bowl game, it will because of an emphasis on ST's. Or at least in large part. Gray, Goodson, and Jaffee were doing Kickoff returns. It's hard to tell on a lot of stuff tho because they were not fully in pads. I'll post more later tonight if I forgot anything. Go Buffs

This Orms injury situation is frustrating me. I was looking forward to watching him, given all the great things I'd heard, last year. Then, "BAM", he was done. Now this year he hasn't even participated in a practice yet. Frustrating.

Oh, and mega thanks for the reports guys! Including DJCU's in the 8/11 thread.

I know they are practicing against themselves and if they are not a talented as others, it will make them look good. But I am starting to get the feeling we are really going to surprise some teams this year. I cannot wait for Sept 3 and Sept 10 to see this team play. Nice report and thanks much for the updates.

Kudos to Grossnickle for responding to the frustrations of yesterday and earning his way back into the mix.

When you rep someone, you can't rep the same person over and over. The actual message is "You Must Spread Some Reputation Around" which turns into ymmsssrs. Rep me once, then try it again right afterward and you'll see the actual message.

Well you have to move fast with Slider evidently setup at the field with his laptop and cell modem.

It was Brundage that was left out today but I'm wondering if his tired leg isn't the cause. Was told Embree definitely stated Grossnickle was on the short end so odd.

BLock is held out but will be tested at KR when healthy.

I had Castor and Oliver too close to call on kickoffs. Castor would be a better tackler for sure.

I pretty much agree on everything above. Amazed that Schrock passed Burnette. Put that one down as a mistake.

PRich and Speedy are the playmakers. Not enough. Sort of like Oregon State and the Rodger Bros.

PRich is our best PR guy but I hope someone else can handle it.

Big difference with ST practice. JD knows what he wants and it's perfection. Lots of situational work where the players are expected to think!

w0ot. Thx for the allsome reports again guys! Can't wait to check out the scrimmage tomorrow!!

What do you mean by this. You think Burnette is better, or you made a mistake thinking that Burnette is better?

i took it to mean that giving BB a schollie was a mistake. i think it was a good gamble (a guy who has taken D-1 snaps), even if he stinks.

If we need a kicker who is a good tackler, well, that doesn't say much about our kicking prospects..

Yes. You don't spend a scholly on a JC guy who goes thru spring and then is behind a true Frosh walkon after 1 week and feel like that wasnt a mistake.
