Today's practice pretty much seemed like a walk-through. Not really serious at all and not physical. Guys were laughing and joking around for most of the part.
QB: Hirschman still in a boot. Burnette and Schrock got all the reps during scrimmage. Hansen was not injured but he was held out of the scrimmage. Schrock looks comfortable out there but nearly every time he checks down to a RB of TE for a short pass.
RB: Speedy held out, not due to injury. Tony got a lot of reps. He isn't as quick as Speedy, but definitely has a higher gear. He is gonna play a lot
WR: Richardson not injured, but still held out. Cefalo looked like he got a serious shoulder injury during scrimmage play but he was walking around fine after that. Toney, Cefalo, and Gray looked like the top 3. Gray is really athletic and has some nice hands. Vincent was back there fielding punts but his hands are questionable. Canty got some reps returning squib kicks and he looks to have some potential back there but is still smallish
TE: Deehan has all the tools but kinda looks invisible out there, atleast during passing drills. Thornton looks more impressive in passing situations (maybe obviously?) Bahr dropped a ball right on his hands
OL: Looks like Munyer was running first team. Couldn't tell much as there were no running plays called at all and they were all in shorts
DL: Hartigan, OBi, Pericak, and Chidera. The DE's all run a lot of drills with the LB's. Kanavis seems like the pass rush specialist. He runs all pass rush drills for all position groups.
LB's: Mahnke looks really good during passing drills. Webb is vocal out there.
CB's: Saw a lot of CB action today. Orms and Henderson seemed to be running with the one's here. Olatoye is fast and tall but doesn't use his length to his advantage, Embree got on him about that. THey did drills where they would basically play jump ball. No one could beat out Olatoye. He has hops. Also, Brownie may not be a "good" recruiter, but you can tell all the DB's really like him. They were all laughing and joking around with him. Sherrard was finally back at practice, but did not participate.
S: Harlos was back out there and paired up with Washington (who is apparently the only one who can beat Embree in basketball).
K: During scrimmage play, I believe Oliver made all his kicks (49,38,45). Castor shanked his first one from 41 but made his next one. Oliver is automatic:saythat:
P: PUnter battle still not solved. Grossnickel still looks better out there imo
Today seemed a lot like they were installing. Lots of standing around and the coaches instructing on what to do during a certain play/situation. Apparently the Offense has been complaining that the Defense has been too physical, which might be why they cut down on the physicality. Not much scrimmage time today, and the time the spent was entirely pass plays. THey were working a lot on 3rd and long situations. It was about 50/50 success rate. The coaches also ran a squib kick drill where about a group of 5 players each on return and coverage. A lot went for TD's (Canty shined here). There was a lot of trash talk. Players were yelling and talking smack, even between the coaches. Each coach really wanted their group to win. They are competitive
Overall it was probably the most boring practice to go to. Not much really happened, probably in preparation for the scrimmage tomo
