Pre-Camp Predictions: Walk-ons earning scholarships

We head into camp with 83 scholarships granted out of the 85 max. Got to figure at least 1 walk-on will earn a scholarship for this year. Possibly 2 or even more if we have camp attrition.

I'll go with Jack Shutack.

I think he's the most likely, since I think he'll be in our 2-deep on the OL. Reports out of camp this spring from Coach Kap were that Shutack ran some with the 1s and was one of our best run blockers (pass protection needs work). Might mean he's an OG instead of an OT, but he'll play.

Out of HS, he signed with Rutgers after having been offered by them, NC State, Iowa State and Minnesota. Tennessee had him in for the last OV weekend but ended up going in a different direction and he stuck with Rutgers. That's among the best offer lists of the OLs on the current roster, for what that's worth.
 
For one, I'll go with Lucas Cooper, who is entering his 5th season with the program. Won the defensive scout player of the year, plays special teams, and is at position (safety) where he could see significant playing time with a couple of injures. I would be Shutacked if Jack was not placed on scholarship this season, he is the most obvious candidate.

Definitely seems like Tucker's visit to the DP is paying off. In years past the headline here would have been how a CU Football Player was arrested. Obviously we all expected this, but with Nebraska saying they may keep the Child pornographer on the team it is nice for Tucker to quickly say he is no longer invited to join the team.

Not only are they keeping him, but they’re not going to discipline him either.

He needs to spend at least sometime in the penalty box. If Dante breaks into the DL rotation this season, then sure, put him on back on schollie after the season.
 
Would getting a scholarship make Sparaco ineligible based on the transfer rules?

I’m expecting him to provide some quality depth and glad he will be playing this season

I agree he needs some time in penalty box, but he also wasn’t a Tucker guy when he first got here. Tucker has no association to him coming and then leaving so I can’t imagine he will be penalized too hard for it.
