good morning. My wife and I will be in Boulder September 28-October 2. We will be going to Oregon St. game. We probably won't tailgate. What are some good bars/restaurants to go to before the game? We are from South Carolina and I'm a CU alum, class of 2001. Thanks.
 
Depends a lot on what you are looking for. There's options to park downtown near Pearl and at 29th St mall and catch a shuttle (I believe). Both areas give you lots of dining options.
 
If you're a CU alum, you should know the good spots. It hasn't changed that much.
 
If you're on the 29th street mall area I would suggest Harpos for a dive or BJs for a non-dive. Both are relatively close to the stadium and/or should have shuttles. If you park on The Hill area, then Half Fast subs, The Sink, etc. You could also check out The Dark Horse.

The classics remain. Toms tavern is probably the best example of a "classic" that has left us. I miss that place, and I don't get to Boulder very often.

My original point was that most of the good places in 2003 are still around. The Sink, The Rio, Walrus, Old Chicagos, walnut Brewery, The Buff, etc. Some aren't, but that's ok. The geography in Boulder is the same. Go to Pearl St and you'll find something you like.
 
We have a VRBO on maxwell st. I was thinking pre-game at a couple bars, walk to game then hit up bars after the game as well.

I'm probably looking for more of a fan scene. If it's a later game maybe some place to watch early games and grab some food/beers. I'm familiar with walnut brewery but do the other breweries have tv's?

West End Tavern would be a good spot.
 
Walnut sucks.

I second nik on West End. They have some good game day specials too.

Staying on Maxwell, though. That's a block north of Mapleton on the west side. Could walk to West End Tavern. Fate would be a drive to Arapahoe & nearly the Foothills Pkwy. Then have to get to the game from there. I think they've got the pedal bus from Fate where you can drink on the way, though. That looks kind of cool.
 
I second West End since you can walk. Lazy Dog is another possibility on the mall. In 2003 they might have still been up north. I also like West Flanders, but I don't know if they do pre game. I liked Walnut brewery a lot before RockBottom wrecked it, but they have gotten about half of their prior greatness back.
