I want to believe that PRich is going to be a huge difference maker for us. I know he's our most explosive guy ... but looking at his numbers, I wonder why we think he's some kind of savior.

The 2011 Cal game seems like an anomaly. Take that game out and he had 28 catches for 271 yards and 3 TDs in 2011. And that was a year when he had Toney Clemons (now with the Jags) on the other side gaining more attention and Tyler Hansen (who made it pretty deep into Bengals camp) throwing to him. And a decent run game with Speedy that pulled people closer to the line.

I'm not trolling here ... somebody tell me I'm crazy. I want to believe.

That was two years ago and he is without a doubt our best offensive player. That is why people are excited about him. I am excited to see how this coaching staff uses him and mixes that rest of our WR talent in as well.

You must be Mr Jones.
As the Counting Crows say,
"Help me believe in anything
'Cause I want to be someone who believes."

The best QB we've had to throw to him was Tyler Hansen, and he was running for his life most of those seasons they played together. Clemons is a huge talent but his relative greater success here has some to do with the defense game planning to smother Richardson. If we ever have a Clemons and Richardson type receiving duo on the field again with an above average coached up QB to throw to them I would say we'd be in excellent shape offensively.

Richardson is, undeniably, very talented. I don't know that I think he is our savior, but a legitimate deep threat cannot do anything but help the offense. By most accounts, Richardson is a legitimate candidate for a professional career.

Prich was injured the back half of that season and was a decoy a lot of the time hence the spike up in Toney's numbers.

P-Rich was only a true sophomore in 2011. Even without the Cal game that's decent production. As much as should be expected out of a true sophomore. I think this is one of those situations where a guy like Marquis Lee raises the bar and makes everyone think true sophomores have 1500+ yard seasons. Kind of like when some LB runs a 4.45 at the combine and now everyone thinks a Pac-12 LB needs to run a 4.6 to have any chance of success.

PRich is one of those guys who can influence a game even when he doesn't have the ball. Just the fact that he can make the big plays means that teams have to make adjustments that make it easier for other guys to have success.

That said it would be surprising if he doesn't have a big step up in statistics this year. The pass protection was so bad that Tyler was mostly in chuck and duck mode. They didn't have the time to let the kind of patterns develop that a guy like PRich is going to be effective on.

Richardson was flat out a talented, but undisciplined WR in 2012 and was in the dog house a lot for missing his blocks, etc. While I think he's unbelievably talented and the best WR I've seen here in forever, I've also been stating he hasn't done anything yet. Just don't want to put him in the CU hall of fame yet. But I'm pretty sure he has everything to get there except for the track record of actually doing it. So let's let it play out.

Our offense has weapons for the first time in forever, and if we had Lewis and Bahktiari coming back, I'd honestly be a lot more optimistic. Without them, there's going to have to be some serious coaching wizardry.

How do you feel now?

CSU: 10 catches 208 yds
UCA: 11 catches 209 yds
FSU: 12 catches 210 yds?

Eat your crow, bitch

My Dad turns to me after PRich's 2nd TD and says "I know you told me two years ago that this guy was good, but I had no idea he'd be THIS good."

And for the second game in a row - how do you NOT cover Paul Effing Richardson? On that 2nd TD, he juked his guy and made him fall, but if I'm the UCA DC, I've got safety help on PRich all day long.

If I remember correctly there was safety help on the 1st touchdown, the safety bit on something lower and PRich blew right by them both

Man crush on prich remains.
