Sad to see a former standout end up in the news like that.

What's the cutoff for jailing bank employees? Steal $10 million or less=jail, more than $10 million=continued employment.
Seems like people who do these things have some kind of misguided belief that they will magically be able to return the money before anyone notices.A theft like this, he had to know he was going to get caught. He's either dumb, or felt the punishment was worth paying off whatever was owed. Maybe a bit of both.

fleshlite??Guy came to our house party when he was a freshman, and tried to steal a flashlight from us. Seriously. He bragged about it to one of the basketball players that was there, not knowing that he was our roommate. (I know, cool story brah).
Sackys fault, he works at a mother****ing bank yes? All seriousness, it is sad.If we got his mom a job at that bank, this wouldn't have happened.

Anybody who has ever worked as a teller will tell you that it's virtually impossible to get away with stealing money that way. The controls in place are so stringent that any discrepancy, even for a penny, gets caught almost immediately. In my earlier days, I was a vault teller. I handled hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash every day. Everything is under dual control, nobody is able to be a "lone wolf". You try something like this and you WILL be caught.
Very disappointed in Bobby. I expected better from him. Maybe that's not fair, but it's true.
Wow, $12,000 theft and 2 days in jail! The defense attorney is the real MVP here!
No priors and paid it back with penalty. Does quite a bit of community service and is a famous Buff being tried locally, so probably had some good character witnesses. But, yeah, it looked like they got him for the charge that's for up to $5k instead of nailing him for a bigger charge.
dislike buttonI liked Purify as a player so hearing about his boneheaded attempt at becoming a criminal is disappointing.:wtf: Hearing about the flashlight theft makes me think we all need to attribute his actions to the fact that he went to high school in the Springs. I mean really doesn't this just show us you can take a guy out of the Springs, but you can't take the Springs out of the guy? opcorn:
No sense treating him like a multi-time felon.
And he will suffer a lot more than a few more days or even weeks of jail would do.
He was working in the banking industry, now nobody is likely to touch him for any job involving trust and money. He will have to re-invent his career and explain it as he goes.
Being famous may be a double edged sword here. Being an ex-Buff may help him with some contacts who can help him get re-started but it also means that a lot more people will remember and the charge will stick to him unlike it would with someone who was relatively unknown.
Well clearly he's not a guy with a huge record, but at the same time, stealing 12 grand (even if you plead to only stealing something like 7 grand) seems like it'd be worth more than 48 hours in jail and 48 hours community service. I'm not saying months in the pen, but at the very least, up the community service to something like 200 hours. But hey, that's just me.
