Here’s the best games to watch from across the nation

We have officially made it to Colorado’s first bye week! Even though the Buffs don’t play this weekend, we’ll still be spending it watching college football. There’s an overwhelming amount of choices for games to watch, so we’re gonna help you out! We’ll tell you the best games for each timeslot to make your Saturday as smooth as possible.

Morning slot (10:00 am local)

The best way to kick off your morning will be by turning on ABC and tuning into #9 Mizzou taking on #25 Texas A&M. The Aggies are actually favored by 2.5 points in this matchup, despite Mizzou’s top ten ranking. The atmosphere at Kyle Field will be electric as A&M and their mystery quarterback try to knock off Luther Burden III and the Tigers.

If some SEC ball doesn’t scratch the right itch for you, perhaps the classic ACC matchup of #22 Louisville and SMU will. This is a bit of a sickos game in the best way possible. The ponies are fresh off a clobbering of Florida State while the Cardinals lost to #14 Notre Dame by only one score last weekend. This game has the potential to get really strange and it also has ACC title game implications, so keep it on your radar.

We are also getting the return of the Commander in Chief trophy this season, as Navy heads to Colorado Springs to face off with Air Force. This game itself shouldn’t be particularly interesting, as Navy is really good and Air Force is terrible, but the theatrics around it should be worth the price of admission. If all the morning games turn out to be duds, just turn on Navy-Air Force and be entertained by the show.

Afternoon slot (1:30 pm local)

Things get a bit more interesting during the afternoon slot thankfully. We finally get to see Ohio State take on a real test, as Iowa heads to The Shoe for a Big Ten matchup. Ohio State is ranked third in the nation, but they’ve only played two MAC schools, a Sun Belt school, and Michigan State. Those aren’t necessarily heavy hitters this year, but Iowa should be a huge change of pace. The Hawkeyes are still allergic to playing offense, but their defense and secondary are legit. We’ll have to see if the Buckeyes can live up to their massive hype.

Ole Miss vs. South Carolina should also be a good choice this afternoon. The 12th-ranked Rebels are fresh off a loss to Kentucky, but the Gamecocks smoked the Wildcats in week two. South Carolina is definitely a sleeper team in the SEC. They should have beaten LSU if the refs didn’t interfere on the pick-six to end the game, in case anyone has already forgotten. This is a gut check for Lane Kiffin and Jaxson Dart, so it might be worth tuning in to see if they pass.

Night slot (5:00 pm)

Unfortunately, there’s not a whole ton going on during the 5:00 pm slate. The games of note here are USC at Minnesota, Michigan at Washington, and Clemson at Florida State. The first two are weird sicko Big Ten conference games now, and the latter will probably be boring because the ‘Noles are horrible. I’d probably recommend turning your TV off during this slate and going outside to get some fresh air. Perhaps grab dinner with your family or friends. Life is too short to watch the Trojans play in the Twin Cities for a conference game.

If you REALLY wanna watch some football during this slot, I’d say UCF at Florida is probably your best bet. The Knights are hungry for revenge after CU embarrassed them, and Florida is currently on the ropes. The Gators look awful and a coaching change appears to be imminent in Gainesville. We might see the Knights put the beatdown on their big brother to the North, which could be entertaining. Although it didn’t look like it last weekend, UCF has some stars on their roster with RJ Harvey, Kobe Hudson, and KJ Jefferson.

I think taking a little break from watching football is probably the best course of action, because the real fun begins with the...

After Dark slot (9:00 pm)

Here we go, folks. This is where things get good. We’ve got two games in the late slot and both are very promising. The glaring best option is Miami at Cal. The Canes are ranked 8th in the country and they’ve made the journey across the country for an ACC matchup in the Bay Area. Miami is powered by stars, with the likes of QB Cam Ward and RB Damien Martinez on their roster. They’re always a blast to watch, but Cal is no slouch either. Jaydn Ott is one of the most underrated running backs in the country and head coach Justin Wilcox can pick you apart with the run game if you aren’t careful. This game has serious Pac-12 After Dark energy, which is something I think we’ve all been missing.

Texas Tech at Arizona is your other option in this time slot, which isn’t too shabby if you’re a CU fan. Tetairoa McMillan is always a joy to watch. This is another game that radiates Pac-12 After Dark energy, so keep it on your radar. The Buffs play the Wildcats after K-State in two weeks, so why not tune into to get some intel on the enemy?
