The Buffaloes face off against Metro State in the weekend doubleheader.

The University of Colorado Men’s Hockey team starts off their season Friday night at home against Metropolitan State University of Denver. Saturday they gear up to head to Denver for a rematch with Metro State.

According to The American Collegiate Hockey Association, the Buffs went 8-14 last season with five overtime losses, one overtime win, two shootout wins and two shootout losses.

The Buffs are a part of the Western Collegiate Hockey League, which consists of other teams such as Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Oklahoma, and Colorado State.

Also in the conference are teams like Missouri State and University of Central Oklahoma, both of which were tough opponents for the Buffs last season. This year, matchups include games against UNLV, a top ranked team that the Buffs did not play last year, and out of conference games against San Diego State and Oregon.

While the Buffaloes may have not boasted the most impressive record last year, incoming players and strong returners appear promising. Regardless of the outcome, the Buffs will undoubtedly be a fun team to watch this year.
