Lindsay will replace Jonathan Taylor against the Denver Broncos
Phillip Lindsay is back with a vengeance. The Colorado Buffaloes star has been called up from the practice squad to replace the injured Jonathan Taylor in the Indianapolis Colts’ game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.
Lindsay always plays with a chip on his shoulder, but tonight will be a full-on revenge game. Born and raised a Broncos fan, Lindsay spent his first three professional seasons in Denver, totaling 3,015 yards from scrimmage and 18 touchdowns. But things turned sour as the Broncos signed Melvin Gordon, pushed the ‘Tasmanian Devil’ into a lesser role, and then pushed him out to draft Javonte Williams.
Paid just $1.8 million total across three seasons, including his 2018 Pro Bowl appearance, many felt the Broncos took advantage of his loyalty to the franchise. Lindsay tested free agency, but joined a terrible Houston Texans team, then struggled to fit into the Miami Dolphins. He signed with Indianapolis in April 2022 and has been playing on the practice squad all season, reportedly tearing it up.
If Lindsay stars in his return to Denver, he could stay up on the Colts’ active roster or, if they try to send him back to practice squad, he could be auditioning for his next full time gig. Perhaps even the Broncos could come calling after Williams tore everything in his knee.
