It’s been a wild ride for these Buffaloes.
The Colorado Buffaloes will be closing out their season at Utah at 1 PM MST Saturday. Along with the 2023 finale for the team, the game will also end the careers of numerous Colorado seniors and graduate students.
The graduates include: offensive lineman Evan Kistler, receiver Javon Antonio, running back Kavosiey Smoke, safety Rodrick Ward, linebackers Brendan Gant, Jordan Domineck, Juwan Mitchell and Noah Young, defensive lineman Taijh Alston and Leonard Payne Jr., and offensive lineman Landon Bebee and Reggie Young.
Others who participated in the senior day festivities were sophomores Jack Seavall (offensive lineman) and Sy’veon Wilkerson (running back), and juniors Jaylen Ellis (wide receiver) and Michael Harrison (tight end). Wilkerson has been eyeing the draft, but is considering coming back for another season at CU. Seavall and Harrison are academically seniors and have yet to announce any further information about their careers. Ellis posted a farewell post to football this past week, signifying that his career is likely over after another ACL tear.
Most notably, offensive star receiver Xavier Weaver is nearing the end of his college career. Of all the successful players on the Colorado roster, Weaver is most likely to enter the NFL after a dominant senior campaign.
Weaver tallied 908 receiving yards in 68 receptions (13.4 yard average) with four touchdowns. He was arguably one of quarterback Shedeur Sander’s most reliable offensive weapons and posted the best season of his career.
Regardless of which players choose to walk away from football or enter the draft, the Colorado 2023 Senior Class was a part of a legendary team in Coach Prime’s inaugural season. We wish each athlete the best of luck in their future endeavors and hope they carry their memories at Colorado with them throughout their life.
