Crosby was one of the best kickers of his generation.

After 17 years in the NFL, Mason Crosby is hanging up his cleats for the final time. Those same cleats netted 1,918 points for the Green Bay Packers, the most in their vaunted franchise history.

Recognized for his powerful leg and playoffs heroics, Crosby was one of the best kickers of his generation. He never made a Pro Bowl, but he won a Super Bowl, made twelve game-winning kicks in his career, and was as consistent as it gets considering the freezing temperatures and ripping winds of Green Bay.

Crosby is a legend in Green Bay and a GOAT in Colorado. Before the Packers selected him in the sixth round of the 2007 draft, he was the best kicker in college football, full stop. He had the leg (career-long 60 yarder), the consistency (most points in CU history) and the clutchness (14/18 in the fourth quarter, several game-winners). It’s a travesty the two-time All-American never captured the Lou Groza Award.

His most iconic moment is his game-winning field goal to defeat the Colorado State Rams. Crosby went 3-for-3 that day, nailing a game-tying 48-yarder with under three minutes to go, then the final 47-yarder that gave CU the 31-28 win. (Yes, this was the Lawrence Vickers game.)
