Williams is officially a one-and-done in Boulder
The news that Colorado fans have been expecting for over three weeks has finally come. Cody Williams has officially declared for the 2024 NBA Draft, he announced via instagram on Monday.
Coming to Boulder as a five-star recruit out of Gilbert, AZ., Williams immediately became of the biggest recruiting wins in the history of Colorado basketball. As a Buff, Williams started off his college career strong, averaging 15.4 points in his first 12 games with Colorado.
The injury bug bit Williams hard midway through the 2023 season, as he had to miss 13 games due to suffering various injuries, including a facial fracture. While fighting through the injuries, Williams showed immense promise and flashes of greatness during his sole year in Boulder. His length and scoring abilities caught the eye of numerous NBA executives ahead up the upcoming draft.
Williams is a lock to be picked in the first round and is expected to be a lottery pick. Experts seem to believe Williams will land somewhere in between the 5 to 10 pick range, making him one of the highest draft picks in the history of Colorado basketball. It’s an absolute no-brainer for Williams to declare for the NBA Draft, but that doesn’t mean we won’t miss him in Boulder.
