The Buffs and Rams will square off in Boulder
Colorado basketball did the unthinkable on this unsuspecting Monday morning, dropping their full non-conference schedule for the 2024-25 season. The Buffs announced their Big 12 opponents less than a month ago, but we finally know which teams they’ll face ahead of their conference slate. Here’s what their non-con schedule entails:
- vs. Eastern Washington, Nov. 4
- vs. Northern Colorado, Nov. 8
- vs. Cal State Fullerton, Nov. 13
- vs. Harvard, Nov. 17
- at Maui Invitational (3 Games), Nov. 25-27
- vs Pacific, Dec. 2
- vs. Colorado State, Dec. 7
- vs. South Dakota State, Dec. 13
- vs. Bellarmine, Dec. 21
This is about what we expected Colorado’s non-con games to look like in 2024-25. For a program that has trouble getting bigger named brands to play at their gym, playing a group of mid-major and D2 schools is par for the course.
Despite that, some of these games are going to be REALLY fun. Getting a crack at Colorado State in Boulder after falling short to the Rammies in Fort Collins in 2023 will be the highlight of the non-con state, but South Dakota State should also give the Buffs a great game. The Jackrabbits are fresh off an NCAA Tournament appearance and will be a formidable foe.
That’s not even mentioning the Maui Invitational, whose tournament field is stacked. The Buffs will have to play three of the following teams: Auburn, Dayton, Iowa State, Memphis, Michigan State, North Carolina, and UConn. These three games will be the hardest non-con games Colorado has had in recent memory, which is cause for excitement (and maybe a bit of anxiety).
This year’s squad is essentially a brand new team after all five of Colorado’s starters from 2023-24 left for the NBA Draft or the portal. Having some softball home non-con games is perfect for the team so they can learn to play Colorado’s brand of basketball and gel with their new teammates. Plus, those Maui and CSU games will give us a taste of what this team is capable of before their brutally difficult Big 12 schedule.
Hoops season is fast approaching, so get excited Colorado Fans!!!
