NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament First Round-Florida vs Colorado

The Buffs couldn't have asked for a better draw

The stage is set for the 2024 Maui Invitational, and the Buffs couldn’t have asked for a better draw. Colorado will face off against Michigan State for their first matchup in Paradise later this November in what will likely be CU’s most difficult non-conference test.

NEWS: The bracket for the 2024 Maui Invitational is set, according to multiple sources.

UConn/Memphis
Michigan State/Colorado

Even with the challenge of playing the Spartans, Colorado got extremely lucky by drawing MSU. The tournament field for this year’s Maui Invitational is stacked, with the likes of UConn, North Carolina, Auburn, Iowa State, Memphis, and Dayton also making the trip to the Hawaiian Islands.

On day two, Colorado will face either reigning champ UConn or Memphis. If the Buffs can beat the Spartans, they’ll likely get a crack at the best team in the nation. Considering that Colorado is probably the worst team in the Maui Invitation by a significant margin, a matchup with the Huskies seems extremely unlikely.

Regardless of the outcome, playing in Maui is an amazing opportunity for this young Buffaloes squad. Only time will tell if they can make the most of it.
