NCAA Basketball: Pac-12 Conference Tournament Quarterfinals - UCLA vs Colorado

Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

A marquee non-con game for everyone

Tad Boyle and the Colorado Buffaloes have had a tough time finding high-level opponents to come to Boulder to play basketball. They are just good enough to make any road trip in altitude scary. In the absence of any home-and-homes, it looks like neutral third-party tournaments are the way to go. In that vein, it looks like the Buffs are playing Miami and the fighting Jim Larranagas in New York:

The #CUBuffs men’s basketball team will battle 2023 NCAA Final Four participant Miami (Fla.) on Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., as part of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Brooklyn Showcase. It is scheduled to tip off at 12 pm MT.

This should be a good early season test for the most hyped CU basketball team in years. Miami was in the Final Four last year, and has quite a bit returning from that team. They are without their two leading scorers, from last year, but return one of the best players in the country in Nijel Pack and have plenty of athleticism returning.

For CU’s part, this will be a great early test for Tad Boyle’s team that has the vast majority of production returning and a potential #1 draft pick in Cody Williams. Beating Miami early on in an unfriendly environment would be a sign of good things to come in the 2023-2024 season.
