A throwback to the 70s on Friday night at Folsom Field
The Colorado Buffaloes announced the uniform pairing for Friday’s football opener vs. TCU. We could describe it, but it’s best to experience it yourself:

These super clean helmets were picked to honor Cliff Branch, who posthumously became CU’s first inductee to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Branch spent his entire 14-year NFL career with the Los Angeles Raiders before retiring from football in 1988. He helped lead Al Davis’ team to three Super Bowls and left his mark on the NFL record books.
The former Buffs wideout passed away on Aug. 3, 2019, two days after his 71st birthday.
Colorado plans to celebrate Branch’s life and accomplishments at the end of the first quarter on Friday in front of the home opener crowd at Folsom Field. In 2010, Branch was inducted into the CU Sports Hall of Fame.
This is the first-ever meeting between CU and TCU on the gridiron. Sonny Dykes leads the Horned Frogs after taking over for Gary Patterson at the start of this year. Colorado holds a .500 record against Dykes at 1-1 all-time.
The Buffaloes are 23-10-1 in their last 34 season openers (dating back to 1988), according to the athletic department.
