Tad Boyle is bringing in a big class to Boulder.
Today is Early Signing Day in the college basketball world, meaning the Colorado Buffaloes have the official signatures of two guards in their upcoming recruiting class. Those would be Jalin Holland, the four-star combo guard, and Isaiah Johnson, the three-star point guard from Los Angeles.
Holland is a big win for this class. He’s a late-bloomer who has looked just as dominant at Dream City Christian (AZ) and he did in his home town of Los Lunas, New Mexico. He’s a big-bodied 6’4, 190-lbs. with a strong frame and a projectable jump shot. He’s been rising in the recruiting rankings and could crack the top-100 by the end of the year.
Johnson is not rated on 247 Sports, but Boyle has had an eye on him for a while. He’s an undersized pure point whose maturity and poise has impressed the coaching staff. While it’s unclear what Boyle will do with his army of combo guards, Johnson should compete for minutes at the 1 during his time at CU.
Colorado has commitments from three more who have yet to officially sign. Josiah Sanders is the top ranked recruit in this class, a 6’4 combo guard who’s vision, rebounding and left-handedness make him a dream for Boyle. There’s also Ian Inman, an athletic wing from Texas, and Tacko Fawaz, a 6’10 center who plays prep basketball with Holland.
The Buffs currently have the 32nd ranked recruiting class, per 247 Sports.
