The media isn’t high on the Buffs in 2024
Colorado’s first media day as a member of the Big XII is only a week away, but it’s already off to a rocky start. The conference released their media preseason rankings on Tuesday morning and the Buffs ended up pretty damn low on the totem pole.

Most of the media hasn’t been high on the Buffs this offseason, but 11th out of 16 teams? Yikes. The Buffs have multiple Heisman candidates in Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. They have perhaps the best receiver corps in the country. They’ve bulked up on the defensive front and completely revamped their offensive line. This isn’t the same 4-8 team we saw last season.
I’m not saying that CU will contend for the Big XII title this season. I’d be very happy if we went 6-6 and made a bowl game. But sandwiching us between TCU and BAYLOR (???) is a stretch.
The table has been set for Vegas next week. Deion, Shedeur, Shilo, Travis Hunter and Mark Vassett will all have to field questions about their team’s low ranking in the preseason poll. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say they probably won’t be too happy about it.
