Winning helps recruiting! Who would’ve thought?
Colorado’s incredible comeback win against Baylor didn’t just impress college football fans everywhere, but it also made an impression on the recruits in attendance. After the last-second and overtime heroics, two four-star defensive backs who had official visits to Boulder last Saturday have flipped their commitment from Big Ten squads to play for the Buffaloes.
The first player to flip is safety Byron Baldwin, who was originally committed to play at Indiana. Baldwin is currently ranked as the 20th-best safety and a top 300 recruit in the Class of 2025 according to 247. The 6-foot-1, 190 lbs safety will play his college ball in Boulder, replacing the outgoing Shilo Sanders and Cam’ron Silmon-Craig following the 2024 season.

Baldwin is a big body and a physical presence in the defensive backfield. His unique combination of size and speed makes him capable of bullying smaller receivers and completely shutting them down, along with crashing plays near the line of scrimmage. Having a big safety that can blow up plays and blitz is a great asset for every defense to have, and that’s exactly what Baldwin is.
The second player to flip to Colorado is former Penn State commit Antonio Branch. Much like Baldwin, Branch is a big and physical safety who’s ranked as the 40th-best safety in the Class of 2025 by 247.

Branch’s 6-foot-2, 172 lbs lanky build makes him hard for quarterbacks to beat over the top. He’s a hard hitter and has a knack for locating the football, which is a recipe for success in a safety. Branch chose Boulder and Buffaloes over the Nittany Lions and Nebraska, scoring a recruiting win for Coach Prime.
If the Buffaloes keep winning and showing out with recruits in attendance, expect these recruiting wins to roll on. Colorado’s next home game is on October 12th against Kansas State, so keep your eyes out for more commitments in the following days if the Buffs knock off the Wildcats.
