Colorado’s depth at receiver is beyond ridiculous at this point.
Deion Sanders evidently isn’t taking weekends off this off season, as Colorado landed two massive transfers before noon on Saturday. LSU EDGE Quency Wiggins announced that he’s coming to play in Boulder this morning, but the good news didn't stop there. TCU wide receiver Cordale Russell announced that he’s jumping from one Big XII team to another, as he’ll join the Buffaloes in 2024.
Russell’s large frame and impressive length caught the eye of many scouts while playing high school ball in Texas during 2022, as the receiver was a four star recruit going into college. During his sole season with the Horned Frogs, Russell didn't see the field much as a true freshman. Russell only played in only three games with TCU in 2023 and didn’t record any stats. After making the decision to enter the portal following last season, Russell was ranked as the 28th best receiver available by 247 Sports.
It’s understandable that Russell wants to come to Boulder after TCU took a nosedive last season following their appearance in the National Championship game in 2022. Plus, who wouldn't want the opportunity to catch passes from Shedeur Sanders? Russell is the perfect replacement for Javon Antonio, after the big bodied Colorado receiver declared for the NFL Draft on Friday. The Buffs now have an absolutely ludicrous amount of depth at the wide receiver position, especially after landing Vanderbilt’s Will Sheppard earlier this week. Russell’s size sets him apart from the others in the receivers room, making him a massive asset for the Colorado offense.
Welcome to Boulder, Cordale!
