Too much depth is never a bad thing

Even more reinforcements are coming to help bolster Colorado’s defensive front. In 2023, The Buffs’ front four was relatively undersized and had some issues with consistently getting to the quarterback. To help combat that, Deion Sanders has brought in two massive (literally) defensive line transfers to help the Buffaloes get bigger up front.

The first of which is Arkansas’ Taurean Carter. The gigantic 6 foot 3, 303 pound defensive lineman will be using his graduate transfer to spend his final year of eligibility in Boulder. Carter played in 33 games for the Hogs in the last three season, recording 60 tackles and 2.5 sacks in that time. It sounds as though Carter verbally committed to SMU last week, but had a change of heart after speaking to Colorado’s staff. Carter’s size and SEC experience are important assets that he brings to the table and should help bolster the unit in 2024.

The D-Line just got stronger

Coach Prime wasn’t done there, as he snagged New Mexico State’s Nikhil Webb-Walker from the transfer portal on Friday afternoon. The Aggies’ defense was phenomenal last season and Webb-Walker played a sizable roll in their dominance. Webb-Walker recorded 22 tackles and three sacks alone last season, which helped propel NM State to a second place finish in C-USA and a triumphant win at Auburn. The addition of Webb-Walker adds even more depth to Colorado’s defensive front and creates an intriguing competition for playtime.

The Buffs’ defense under Deion Sanders is looking better (and bigger) than ever thanks to these two transfers.

Welcome to Boulder, Taurean and Nikhil!
