Who will start for the Buffaloes?

Kickoff for Colorado’s Saturday showdown with Baylor is only three days away! Ahead of game time, CU’s athletic communications department released the Buffaloes’ official depth chart for their matchup with the Bears.

Notably, most of this depth chart is the same as last week against Colorado State. Nikhai Hill-Green will start at linebacker after two stellar performances in the last two weeks. Phillip Houston will continue to start at right tackle, and Anquin Barnes will fill in for the injured Chidozie Nwankwo at defensive tackle.

The most interesting part of this depth chart is the running back situation. Charlie Offerdahl, the starter for weeks one and two, has moved to third on the list after Colorado initially struggled to establish a run game. Dallan Hayden is the presumed RB1 when healthy, but he’s been battling an undisclosed injury for the last two weeks. Hayden’s name is listed in italics on the depth chart, meaning he likely won’t play against Baylor.

After a breakout performance in Fort Collins last weekend, Micah Welch is listed as Colorado’s RB2 this week. The RB1 honors against Baylor go to Isaiah Augustave, who also impressed against the Rams. Welch is a true freshman and Augustave is a sophomore, meaning the Buffs will have one of the youngest one-two punches in the backfield this season. Welch and Augustave are the future of Colorado football’s running back room, so be on the lookout for them this weekend.
