Colorado’s adding a 6-foot-6 tackle to their line

Colorado and Coach Prime spent the winter completely revamping their offensive line, but they evidently aren’t done yet. Right as the portal reopened for the spring period, the Buffs managed to snag former Texas Longhorns offensive tackle Payton Kirkland.

Kirkland is 6-foot-6, 366 Ibs absolute unit of a lineman. His large base adds even more size and power to Colorado’s offensive line, which was something that was sorely missed in 2023.

Kirkland was a four-star recruit coming out of high school in Orlando, where he chose Texas over schools like Alabama, Florida and Oklahoma. While spending the last two seasons in Austin, Kirkland never saw the field during a game. He’ll now join a Colorado Buffaloes team in need of more help protecting their star quarterback. Kirkland has three years of eligibility remaining, so remember his name.

Kirkland is a fantastic get for the Buffs. His impressive size and wingspan make him a great asset at tackle and he’s still coming into his own. While he may not play a ton this year, Kirkland is currently set up to be one of Colorado’s tackles of the future along with Jordan Seaton.

Welcome to Colorado, Payton!
