Coach Prime’s continuing to bolster the trenches

As Colorado fans learned in 2024, you can never have too much depth in the trenches. CU’s staff and Coach Prime know that all too well, as they brought in a great depth piece at defensive line for the upcoming 2025 campaign.

Colorado managed to pry DL Gavriel Lightfoot away from Fresno State, committing to play at CU early in the first portal period.

Lightfoot is a 6-foot-3, 300+ pound prototypical interior defensive lineman. At Fresno State, Lightfoot started 25+ games and tallied 66 total tackles. He was very productive this season for the Bulldogs, racking up 37 tackles and a pass deflection. After being recruited by other Mountain West teams like Nevada and Hawaii, Lightfoot comes to CU with two years to play one.

Lightfoot’s commitment comes fresh off the news that #1 portal defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis is headed to Boulder, but you can never have too much depth. Bringing in guys to add to the rotation can help this team stay fresh upfront and retain its reputation as an underrated defensive powerhouse.

Welcome to Boulder, Gavriel! We’re glad to have you here!
