A few key Buffs will be out against the Red Raiders
After a week of rest, the Colorado Buffaloes have arrived in Lubbock, Texas, and are ready to face off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. CU’s bye couldn’t have come at a better time, as the team is now as healthy they could be headed into their College Football Playoff push.
Unfortunately for the Buffs, they’ll be without a couple of their key players against TTU this Saturday. One of which is running back Micah Welch, who has been nursing a hamstring injury since Colorado’s game in Tucson three weeks ago. Hamstrings can be tricky, so it’s good that CU’s staff is letting Welch recover at his own pace and not rush back.
Another Buffalo that’ll miss action in Lubbock is defensive end Dayon Hayes, who has been injured since CU’s game against UCF. Dayon’s injury is undisclosed, but he posted during Colorado’s bye week that he had surgery. We’re wishing Hayes the best of luck on his recovery and we hope to see him back on the field for the Buffs soon.
Defensive lineman Shane Cokes will also be out against Texas Tech. Cokes has been a key contributor to CU’s interior defensive line, so his absence could have an impact against Texas Tech.
Linebacker Jaylen Wester is another Buff who will be inactive against TTU. CU will be without an important depth piece in their LB room, so don’t be shocked if we see Keaton Wade get action today before officially redshirting.
On a positive not, the Buffs will get receiver Terrell Timmons Jr. back today against Texas Tech. Timmons suffered an injury in CU’s game against Kansas State a month ago. Timmons is an important depth piece to the WR corps so his return is welcome.
Kickoff is coming up soon in Lubbock, so make sure to tune in on Fox! As always, Sko Buffs! Beat Texas Tech!
