Sherrod is getting a second chance in Brooklyn

Colorado women’s hoops legend Jaylyn Sherrod is getting another shot to prove herself at the highest level after inking a seven-day contract with the WNBA’s New York Liberty on Saturday morning.

After going undrafted in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Sherrod signed a deal with the Liberty following the event's conclusion in April. She played well in two preseason games and grew a bit of a cult fandom within the Liberty’s fanbase for her high-intensity style of play, but she ended up not cracking the team’s final roster and was released prior to the season.

Over three months have passed since then and Sherrod is finally getting a well-deserved second chance in Brooklyn. The two-time first-team All-Pac-12 recipient and 2024 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year has finally made a WNBA 12-player roster.

To make things even more exciting, the Liberty are really REALY good this year. They’re currently standing with the league’s best record and have some serious star power in Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart, so it’s safe to say that Jaylyn is in good hands.

Sherrod suited up for the Liberty’s Saturday afternoon game against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, but didn’t check into the game. Sherrod and the Liberty’s next contest will be against the red-hot Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, so keep your eyes out for some potential minutes from the Buffaloes legend.

Congrats, Jaylyn!
