NCAA Football: Pac-12 Media Day

The conference has also agree to the sharing terms.

The Pac-12 Conference seems to be coming close to reaching a media rights deal and we might finally have a resolution before the end of the month.

With UCLA and USC’s departure from the conference, the remaining 10 schools in the Pac-12 have agreed to share the media-rights revenue equally between all programs. However, that agreement includes a performance-based distribution that will allow the teams that qualify for the College Football Playoff to earn additional revenue, helping to create a little more stability with Oregon, Washington and, maybe, Utah.

While we’ve heard that the conference was “close” to finalizing a deal for months now, Washington State president Kirk Schulz went on the record that he believes the deal will be completed by the end of June.

“At least the projections (AD) Pat Chun and I and others have seen,” said Schulz, “I’m not sure that it will be a lot larger than we saw in the past, (and) it shouldn’t be smaller than in the past. It may be fairly flat.”

With the Big 12 jumping in front and getting their deal done early, Pac-12 conversations have become more difficult. That deal made the options become far more limited for the Pac-12.

As rumors continue to swirl about Colorado’s conversations with the Big 12, the Pac-12 conference and its members have to hope for a good outcome with this deal, or the conference as we know it may cease to exist.
