There’s nothing like Colorado Buffaloes football...
These last two years of Colorado Buffaloes football have had their fair share of legendary moments. Between Lil Wayne leading the team out of the tunnel against CSU, Travis Hunter’s insane touchdown celebrations courtesy of streamer Kai Cenat, and the handful of hectic field rushes at Folsom, something happened last night in Lubbock that might take the cake as the single most hilarious moment of Deion Sanders’ first two seasons in Boulder.
Colorado beat Texas Tech at Jones AT&T Stadium last night by a margin of 41-27, advancing to 7-2 on the season and 5-1 in Big 12 play. Not only did CU weather TTU’s air-raid offense to emerge victorious, but they also weathered a neverending shower of tortillas throughout the entire game.
Yes, you heard me right—tortillas, as in the best part of any taco or burrito. Red Raider fans have been chucking tortillas down onto the field in Lubbock since the 80s, becoming what’s perhaps the fanbase’s most famous tradition to date.
Since Colorado’s matchup with Texas Tech was so high-profile, the tortilla throwing was especially bad on Saturday. Tortillas were being thrown at the field like frisbees at Mach speed for the full 3 hours of the game, entering the field of play numerous times.
After the game, superstar Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders seized his opportunity to be an elite troll, signing a tortilla as an extra special memento from his win over the Red Raiders.

“They kept throwing them at me so I had to sign one,” said Shedeur in his postgame presser.
Shedeur also took the opportunity to express his concern over the non-stop tortilla chucking, saying that he didn’t know that it was legal to pelt the playing surface with objects from the stands for the duration of the entire game.

The shenanigans didn’t stop there, as Shedeur also posed with the TTU band for a post-game picture, holding one of their saxophones.

This era of CU football is something so surreal, so special, and most importantly, so fun. This Colorado team will go down as legendary not just for their on-field success, but also their objectively hilarious hijinks off it.
(Side note: really curious about the market cost of that tortilla...)
