Hunter is receiving some well-deserved honors

Who else but Travis Hunter? Colorado’s star defensive back earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors for his stellar week three performance against Colorado State in Fort Collins last Saturday.

“Hunter was instrumental in limiting Colorado State to just nine points during the in-state rivalry game, playing in 123 of 138 snaps from scrimmage,” wrote the Big 12 in a press release. “He tallied five tackles, one pass breakup and an interception that he returned for 38 yards in CU’s 28-9 victory. The defensive back was part of a team effort that slowed down quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi to just 208 passing yards and zero touchdowns with a pair of interceptions.”

Even with Hunter’s Defensive Player of the Week honors, it doesn’t even account for this stellar offensive showing. While lining up at receiver for the Buffaloes, Hunter snagged 13 catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns. The Big 12 opted to give their Offensive Player of the Week award to UCF running back RJ Harvey instead.

We only have ten more games left of Hunter in a Colorado jersey, so enjoy it while it lasts. Come next April, NFL teams will be hard pressed not to pick him with the first overall pick in the draft.

Congrats, Travis! Well deserved!
