NCAA Football: Colorado Spring Game

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Hunter is primed for a huge season with the Buffaloes.

Without even stepping onto the field in a game for the Buffaloes, transfer sophomore Travis Hunter has been named to the 2023 Preseason Associated Press All-American first team. He was listed as an all-purpose offensive player.

The list, announced Monday, has four other Pac-12 players, quarterback Caleb Williams from USC, wide receiver Rome Odunze and rusher Bralen Trice from Washington, and kicker Joshua Karty from Stanford.

Hunter shocked the country as the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2022 when he chose Jackson State over major offers from schools such as Georgia, Clemson and Ole Miss, as well as being committed to Florida State at one point. When he followed Coach Prime to Colorado in December, he became the No. 1 transfer student in the nation.

Colorado hasn’t had a player to receive the honor since Nate Solder over a decade ago. With Hunter’s once-in-a-generation type talent, he is expected to make a major impact on both sides of the ballfor the Buffaloes this season.
