A look at the weather after Hurricane Helene

This week, Hurricane Helene brought heavy rain and strong winds to much of the southeast, leaving its mark on Florida especially. As the storm subsides, the weather in Orlando will play a significant role in Colorado’s matchup against UCF today.

The forecast for game time is better than some expected, with cloudy skies and the potential for thunderstorms looming. Due to storms in the area, we may see a delay around the scheduled start time, so stay up to date on any potential cancelations as we approach gametime @1:30 M.T.

In this game thunderstorms could be a major disruptor for the Buffs. Rain-soaked conditions often make it harder for receivers to run clean routes and for quarterbacks to maintain their grip and accuracy. If the weather worsens and the passing game is effected, Colorado may struggle to find the offensive firepower they’ve thrived on so far this year.

UCF’s ground game, led by RJ Harvey, might benefit from the slick conditions. Running the ball and controlling the clock become even more critical when passing attacks are stifled by the weather. This may be giving Vegas their justification for their 14 point spread on this game.

In the end, the outcome of this game may hinge on how each team adjusts to the stormy conditions. Colorado’s ability to find success through the air, and UCF’s rushing dominance, both stand to be affected by what Mother Nature has in store today.
