Well, the word around the program is that Kansas transfer Jordan Webb has the most faith from the coaching staff and will likely start this upcoming season. A source close to CU also says that the coaches were not overly impressed with Wood and that Hirschman will not be ready to fully compete after recovering from a broken foot suffered in pre-spring workouts.

Anyone know anything about "rantsports" or their CU/Pac-12 writer, David LaRose?

Webb has yet to even arrive on campus, and he is the favorite to start? Yeah, I'm buying that.

I'm guessing Wood starts the season, we eek by CSU and Sac St and then suffer an embarrassing loss in Fresno after which Webb takes over and leads us to 2 more wins the rest of the yr...

If we eek by CSU and Sac State we're not going to win another game. Not that it matters because we're not going to eek by either of them and we won't win only 4 games next year.

Bingo.

This actually sounds like a reasonable prediction

Absolutely... 4 wins is a possibility, but if we start the season right and do beat Fresno, we can win 7. 3-7 wins is about the range we should fall in.

it takes a special kind of offseason performance to be a former-4* TU transfer QB and have as little buzz as there is around these parts. the closest i can come to describing my feelings toward this season would be to harken back to my days at CU in the student section in 2004 i believe. Any third down, no matter how long for the opposing team, we knew #6 DB Phil Jackson would blow some coverage and they'd move the chains. That pre-snap sinking feeling of inevitable disappointment is now all i feel when it comes to the gridiron. God I hope I'm off on this one...

If somebody doesnt take the job over, I wouldnt be surprised to see Dillon get a look. I think he needs to redshirt to add weight but I dont think they'll hesitate to play him if he's the best option.

I'd say starting experience in the Big 12 trumps potential from a couple of guys who have never taken a collegiate snap. I'm not gonna tear into the story too much based on that alone. We don't know right now if the play of any of them would be the difference in us getting to a bowl.

One nice thing about Webb: according to today's BDC, he has not returned the Camera's messages all summer.

I thought this would be great summer (comparatively) for CU sports news. Top BB recruits here all summer, scrimmage with past players, working up to a great year... Embree with his full class, 7 on 7 drills, Dillon. Instead, we've heard almost nothing.
AllBuffs needs to recruit whoever lives in one of the married student housing apartments, that overlook the practice field and turn them into sports reporters

we already tried that with mick ronson. turns out he just drank the whole time and listened to electric miles.

I think no one yet has taken over the starting position at QB. The coaches are going into fall hoping that someone separates themselves from the pack. If Webb is the starter then he will have to win it when camp opens.

Agreed, key word there is "hoping," but in reality it is looking more and more like a committee approach to me.

I will be very disappointed if we go into the fall with QB by committee. Lack of other pieces (RB, WR) aside, several of these guys have been in the system long enough that they should have a grasp on it. Two of those are recruits from the new staff (not including Webb since he hasn't been coached by Scherer. Either our staff is lacking at developing players or lacking at evaluating them coming in or some of both. None of those possibilities gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

If one of these QBs isnt the real deal right away enjoy the coaching search for 2014 season.

I wouldn't go that far. If none of these QB's shows any promise whatsoever, then it's a decent liklihood that Dillon is the starter in 2013. If he shows any kind of promise in 2013, the staff will be given more time.

I will bet you $100 that...wait never mind.

There won't be a committee come conference play.

Although I think Embree is one of the most decisive coaches I've ever encountered, I could see him giving them a chance in the first two games to separate themselves.

Embree really wants to turn this around now and I don't see him playing for 2013. He's playing to win every game he can. Webb's 20-something starts in the Big12 looks really enticing right now.

Webb also can run the zone-read and add a dimension. If we don't have PRich to start the year, it's going to be REALLY tough to break the 8-in-the-box defenses we will see (unless a True Freshman can make the Defense pay at WR). Some of you may have seen this scenario before.... Ineffective WR's with little speed who can't get off the LOS. Pockets that collapse with no option for the QB to go to. Webb is pretty skilled at dealing with this as ALL of his starts played out this way.
