Drolly!He's no Chris Ball.
This. I would have settled for Parcells. It was Belichick or bust for me.

Same thing happened when someone floated RG as a possible candidate for the AD position.Someone suggested him early and he was dismissed on here as "why would he come"?
+1 That he built up USF from scratch, led them into FBS and kept on winning was damn impressive. Guy is incredibly smart too. I suspect HCMM is going to learn as much from him as the other way around. I said in another thread, I'd be OK if HCMM built up his cred by turning us into a bowl team, left for the SEC, and let Leavitt take over. This is a major hire. Leavitt is on the level of any of the other candidates discussed and is preferable to Gibbs & Pendergast in that he works well with others, and preferable to Durkin & Seto in that he's had his success while having complete responsibility for a defense and team.
Well done, MM & RG!
and to add. He has proved it and like mentioned before in another thread, his resume might actually be a little better then his new boss'This is a major hire. I know we have other threads, but in line with our conversations during the search it would be interesting to see statistics on the perceptions of the AB community on this hire.
You caught me. But you have to admit, it is an interesting exercise to confirm where us die hard fans stand on the hire. With 100 votes in, it is a landslide victory for HCMM and RG. About 2/3 call it a slam dunk hire and only 1 is luke warm.I knew you'd find a way to start another thread about the DC. Well done.
And, great hire BTW.
I'm not a coordinator guru - so overall how does this compare to if we would have gotten Seto? (Already saw one post that said "better")

Make sure you put it in your hope chest. So happy. So happy to have something to make this spring compelling.
My dream catcher just snagged a BOWL GAME.
