I know we have other threads, but in line with our conversations during the search it would be interesting to see statistics on the perceptions of the AB community on this hire.

This is a major hire. Leavitt is on the level of any of the other candidates discussed and is preferable to Gibbs & Pendergast in that he works well with others, and preferable to Durkin & Seto in that he's had his success while having complete responsibility for a defense and team.

Well done, MM & RG!

+1 That he built up USF from scratch, led them into FBS and kept on winning was damn impressive. Guy is incredibly smart too. I suspect HCMM is going to learn as much from him as the other way around. I said in another thread, I'd be OK if HCMM built up his cred by turning us into a bowl team, left for the SEC, and let Leavitt take over.

Of course if HCMM is that successful and wants to stay long term that would be sweet but I bet he is itching to get back some day to his southeastern roots.

and to add. He has proved it and like mentioned before in another thread, his resume might actually be a little better then his new boss'

I knew you'd find a way to start another thread about the DC. Well done.

And, great hire BTW.

I think the Pointer Sisters said it best. Yes a little homoerotic but I don't care! Leavitt is a DAMN good hire along with getting a DC as our secondary coach Tumpkin. Yes....

You caught me. But you have to admit, it is an interesting exercise to confirm where us die hard fans stand on the hire. With 100 votes in, it is a landslide victory for HCMM and RG. About 2/3 call it a slam dunk hire and only 1 is luke warm.

I'm not a coordinator guru - so overall how does this compare to if we would have gotten Seto? (Already saw one post that said "better")

Leavitt has a better resume than Seto. I think Seto will end up being a star coach some day though. Leavitt brings a lot of experience, knowledge, and connections. Leavitt also brings HC experience which may push/aid HCMM.
