The Black Coaches' Association chief did comment on Embree's firing.

He called it "disappointing," and admitted he would have liked to see Embree get another year. However, he continued:

I would have been pleased if he had gotten another year, but I'm also not blind. I think the thing that did him in was the loss to the FCS team (Sacramento State). What can you say about that?

That's good to hear. Hopefully that's the last we need to hear about that.

Sounds like Mr. Keith has listened to the people who have pointed out that making it impossible to fire even the most unsuccessful coaches just because they happen to be black is only going to make it harder for black coaches to get jobs...

I agree with this sentiment. I've never like the term "race card" though. It's often used as a defense against real cases of racism. I'm not in any way suggesting, however, that Embree's firing was based on race.
